Re: I am losing interest in the NFL

Lots of DUI, assault, drug possession, etc. off the field.

Below is an NFL Arrests database link complied by The San Diego Union-Tribune. Any arrests more serious than a traffic citation since 2000 are listed. 714 entries in all, averaged over 13 past seasons (2000-2013) is about 55 incidents per year. You can sort by date, team, etc.:

The NFL is disgraceful in the treatment of present and past players. One of the richest monopoly's in the world can't give the people that put them there decent health care or insurance amongst some of it list of atrocities.

I agree, I don't watch football anymore, there are many reasons!

Traveler, I feel you. With a team like the Lions (here), it's hard to be optimistic. About the only thing interesting is learning who Ndamakong Su beat up in any given week.

There are many elements: wind, fire, water
But none quite like the element of surprise

This is also my understanding.

The current players are all or almost all in the top 1% in the country.

Re: I am losing interest in the NFL

It's easy for us to judge the old school players.

This is an interesting article about Tony Dorsett during his time w/ a The Dallas Cowboys, America's Team.

He also did an online interview w/ my sports radio station, The Ticket, during a remote...so I was there in person...watching his expressions. The pain he had in his voice & on his face was...numbing & gut-wrenching. If he pulls out of his driveway, he sometimes forgets why he's there. All in an instant. He has anger...frustration...then sadness. He's reduced to a mindset of a child. Yes, he made a lot of money, but sometimes that doesn't matter. No one, repeat, no one enters a new job thinking their new job will result in early on-set dementia. Sad. Very, very sad.

bird mama, congrats on spelling mumble, mumble, Su's first name. I sadly gave up on the Lions in 1991 and switched my allegiance to the Green Bay Packers, long before I moved to the U.P. (where there are many Packer fans).

I can say, in spite of my trying to "get into" football many times over the years, it's the most idiotic game ever invented!

I can't believe people actually watch it! {#emotions_dlg.confused1}

I'll yell it right back to you in bold.

Look at it like this: You know how a game of chess is won by making calculated moves against an opponent who is trying to outguess and outmanuvre you? Well, football is the same. No different. Try looking at it that way.
