Re: I Think There Needs to be Set Standards & Protocol

We keep a box of those masks in the house so if we need them they are here.

Re: I Think There Needs to be Set Standards & Protocol

Even in places where there are set standards and protocol in place, the responsibility of protecting yourself is always on you.

If a clinic or doctors office sets out masks and hand sanitizer, it is your responsibility to use it — not their responsibility to verbally remind you to use it.

I do my best to avoid/and or limit my exposure during flu and virus season, but I also swish a solution of diluted peroxide every day.   I clean my toothbrush with straight peroxide every day, and anytime I have to be out around others, I put neosporin on a q-tip and apply it around the openings of my nostrils.   This tip came straight from my brothers kidney specialist, and is something the doctor urges his office staff to do daily during flu season.

Excellent idea.    My local Arco station now has those clear plastic gloves at every pump.   The sign above it says that an average of 15,000 people touch that pump handle every month, so please use the goves and toss in the receptacle when done.

Fifteen thousand people???    Now THAT is shocking ....  to me, anyway.

The clinic where my doctor practices has masks in dispensers in the waiting area.  You can just help yourself.

@Kachina624   Yes, my Dr. has masks also, along w/a huge bottle of Purell at the check in desk, which I do use after checking in.

@goldensrbest  I never thought of that.  I do use sanitizer after using the pump, tho.  I also smear it on the steering wheel, gear shift and inside door handle.  No, I'm not paranoid at all !!  I also use it after shopping before I put my gloves on to go back outside.

I'll tell you, after having pneumonia twice in 6 months and hospitilized for weeks, I guess I am paranoid.  You get scared when you get older.  Much harder to fight off and recover.  Thanks, golden.

Hospitals and doctor's offices are some of the germiest places to be.

Nothing you can really do except take matters into your own hands.  I have never seen separate rooms for those who are sick, those who are there for a wellness check, those there for bloodwork, etc.  Everyone is in a big waiting room together.

What bothers me the most is having to treat homeless people in the ER. Many of them come in because of pneumonia,TB, wounds that don't heal or to get a fix for pain. They're often infested with lice and after they leave, the room gets decon'd ...I just can't stand it.

That happens with a lot more than homeless people.

So homeless people shouldn't get medical treatment.
