This might belong under TV and Movies, but it's also medical in nature. I was watching Dr. Pol and he had drained an abscess on an animal. As always he told the owners to flush it with hydrogen peroxide once a day for a couple of days. A little box popped up and said the human body creates hydrogen peroxide. Not sure what to do with that info.
In other news, I also learned that there is more than one type of speculum. The one for horses goes in the opposite end than the one for humans.

I used to watch Dr. Pol all the time. He is great. I never heard that the body makes hydrogen peroxide??? As for peroxide, I heard one time that you shouldn't use it as it is damaging to skin. Anyone know if that is true? I thought I read that once and instead just use alcohol. I know when I got cut or something when I was younger, we were always using peroxide. I used to think it was neat when it foamed up. Kind of gross, but, hey, when you're a kid, you're easily amused, right? As for the speculum, eeeck!

The molecular component of hydrogen peroxide is probably made in our bodies, but I doubt we can produce it by the bottle!

@AngelPuppy1 I have read the same thing about hydrogen peroxide damaging the cut edges of the skin. Dr. Pol wasn't using it in that manner. He was using it to flush out the pus in the abscess. For cuts I believe Manuka Honey is better. I have seen another vet show where the vet used that on the animal for healing cuts. It kills bacteria.

I remember an incident when I was about 10... I was outside playing and stepped on a board with an old nail sticking up... it went through my shoe into my foot... had to PULL it out.... came home crying of course... Mother wanted to clean the wound and then pour hydrogen peroxide on it... I would not let her until she threatened to take me to the doctor to clean it... then I let her do as she wished as I knew Doctors gave shots
I probably should have gone to the Doctors for a tetanus shot anyway... but maybe back then there was no tetanus shots?
