Maca capsules help some people.

Doctors are not always the answer, sometimes they are the cause. When I had a baby at age 40 my doctor wanted me to get a rubella shot. I said no, but the nurse at the hospital said they would not release me without it, total ruse.

I was very fatigued, could hardly lift a cup. I also had joint pain. This was a huge change for me becauseI had always had all the energy I wanted.

I went to several doctors and none could find a cause. Some years later I was watching 20/20 and saw an episode on rubella vaccines and extreme fatigue. You can google. Apparently Merck had a formula for the US different than Europe and our vaccine was causing chronic fatigue for some percentage. The episode told the story of one doctor who had the shot and had to give up her career.

After five years of being in this tiredness, I was helped out of it in one day by an specialist in energy from Kerala, India.

I so agree with you. Doctors are not always the answer. I'm not saying not to seek a doctor first, to rule out anything serious - but when I mention fatigue, from my endocrinologist to my cardiologist, they look at me like I'm crazy because on paper everything checks out okay. Pretty much they think everyone is tired to a certain degree. I also agree about the Maca. Although it mimics estrogen and you should take periodic breaks from it (that's what it says on the Femmenessence MacaLife I take) it has helped with my fatigue and hot flashes.

You rather come here and have a question and answer with people on this thread you started?Everyone is different and you should go to a doctor. No one here is qualified to give out medical advice. {#emotions_dlg.lol} What is good for someone else might not be good for you!

I sincerely doubt anyone comes here for medical advice. Sometimes people wish to toss things around and get different opinions or past experiences. Nothing wrong with that, IMO.

Some people do use the opinions from anonymous posters for medical advice. Or from reading websites that are more interested in selling their products or in being paid for keyclicks on their site. (I remember reading a Pew study that said only a minimal number of those searching for medical help on the internet ever bother to research the reliability of the site or the "experts.") People can sound or look authoritative and knowledgeable while at the same time having no idea what they're talking about. Where are these website "experts" when and if something goes wrong?{#emotions_dlg.unsure}

Are you depressed? Often times that can cause fatigue.

Allergy season leaves me with no energy--I have it spring and fall and have learned to just push through as best I can.

For those of you with hypothyroid, did medication help you regain energy to do things? I am not saying that I have this. I will be going to get tested for thyroid and diabetes. My last diabetes check was normal.

Yes, definitely. At the time, when I didn't know I was hypothyroid - I was falling asleep on the couch at night. I normally can't even take a nap when I'm exhausted and fall asleep! The medication helped tremendously - but ten years later I've developed this exhaustion at times that just comes and goes. I can feel great for months and then feel totally exhausted for weeks at a time. It's not my thyroid now though, because I'm monitoring that very carefully through my endocrinologist. For me now, I think it's because I'm 52 yrs old and going through hormonal changes.

Also, just so you know...I went to a doctor and even an ENT until a third (maybe fourth) doctor felt my neck and said "You have a goiter!" which is just an enlarged thyroid. When I got my thyroid levels under control - then the goiter went away.

Also, my abnormal exhaustion went away at the time. Smile

Re: I Can't Shake This Fatigue

I learned there are tests that are not commonly done by a primary care doctor, for thyroid. They don't commonly do the testing for Hashimoto's. Would it save time and money to just go directly to an endocrinologist? He or she could also do a diabetes or adrenal tests and levels of folate and other B vitamins and check my D levels. My primary care doctor had me on much lower D levels than what is recommended now. I am not sleepy, by the way.

I would hope you'd ask your doctor these questions? Then a referral?

I would think a primary care physician would be a better choice. Were your D levels low? I'm not sure what you mean by being on a lower level than recommended. You need to be careful not to use too high a dosage. When you say fatigue is holding you back from getting things done, are you able to do every day things? Are you able to work?

It's always a victory for me when I remember why I entered a room.
