@cherry

Thank you I thought long and hard before I posted this message, it is anger toward a doctor who was treating me for two years and basically ignored my symptoms.

Also depression is a major part of the Hyperparathyroidism symptoms

My dear friend I am so sorry for you. Do you think it might be depression? I am only saying this because it sounds like they have tested you for other things

Depression can cause physical symptoms , my sister suffers from it, so I am a bit aware of how it can really make you feel sick

I hope the Dr can help you. Feeling ill is no joke

I do know that. I have thyroid problems  ,but so far apart from getting so tired, and feeling like I can't even function, I have been spared that, thank goodness

I don't know why they didn't give you a blood test? It so easy to tell if you aren't up to snuff. I get my thyroid and  blood sugar tested 4 times a year

My endocrinologist said there is a connection between thyroid condition, diabetes ,and  depression. I have 2 of the 3

I hope they can find some answers for you. Jan isn't far ,but when you aren't well i,t can seem like an eternity awayHeart

I am just so sad that I feel so "sick" and energy- less.

My husband does not seem to comprehend what is going on, I have not told my Dad and will not until there is something conclusive.

I feel like I have wasted two years trying t get a diagnosis and each day I am falling deeper and deeper into an abyss of hopelessness.

You have lots to cope with.

When I am sick (ie: flu),  I find it difficult to find my joy.

After my dad’s first heart surgery, the doctor told him to expect depression, which I guess is a normal thing to have when your health is drastically impaired.

One of the blood tests that my internist ran came back with an elevated parathyroid hormone level.

I have been complaining for a while that I feel like I have been hit by a bus, I saw a Rhumetologist and  diagnosed with fibromyalgia about 2 years ago, after reading the symptoms for parathyroid disease, I am wondering if the fibro diagnosed was incorrectly

I am seeing an Endocrinologist in mid Jan and until then I will be wondering what the heck is going on with me

If this is a true diagnosis it would explain so much of what is going on

@I am still oxox

I went back and looked at my blood test results from March. On the results, there is a value for PTH — Parathyroid  Hormone.

If i remember correctly, this value  showed an increased level on your lab results?

This would have flagged your doctor’s attention.

So, lab values for you as an indicator of abnormality, were present.

Fibromyalgia, on it’s own, shows no lab values at all. I believe this is why it is hard to diagnose.

I will be so happy for you after you see the Endocrinologist, because I think your supplements and meds (if prescribed) will help you so much! The increased vitamin D you are taking will probably take some time to show improvement in your symptoms, so patience with this. Perhaps the vit D won’t make you feel better until the doctor adjusts other things. The MD needs to know this.

I forgot to mention that with the diagnosis of hyperparathyrodism, my doctor told me that depression is most definitely a side effect.  I was quite depressed.

I also want you to know that a short term medication was given to me IV in the hospital but the endocrinologist told me to have my PCP check my blood work.  I had no intention of having the parathyroid glands removed although the ENT said it was a simple procedure that took 45-60 minutes and a one day surgery.  However, he said at my age, it was my decision and was okay when I declined.

Good luck.  Keep hydrated.

The surgery is life changing and will extend your life. It is painless and recovery immediate. Stunned your Dr's were not more pervasive and give you more info.

He monitors my vitamin D levels.  My only symptom is the occasional head sweating when I go into a store.  I am relatively healthy and my biggest preventative issue is to make sure I am well hydrated.  The ENT whom I trust said that because of my age, he felt it was MY decision and he did not feel it was life changing.  I'm good with it.

I will say, it was a culmination of a UTI and atrial fibrillation along with the dehydration and elevated vitamin D level that got me a 4 day stay in the hospital.
