Re: Husband diagnosed with AFIB and Scheduled Cardioversion

Thank you again for your posts everyone.   This post ...... hearing about a sucessful Ablation after Cardioversion is promising to hear.    We feel hopeful with my

my husbands Heart Specialist .   He has been trained by the Best and has experience

in performing Ablations for over 10 years.    Thank you for your post.   Sincerely Appreciated. !

My Dad who was 85 at the time had unsuccessful  cardioversion, followed by successful radio-ablation, which corrected his irregular heartbeat.  He had had a CABG 10 years prior.

This was done as an inpatient in a major medical center.

After Echocardiogram,  EKG, Blood Tests  a Cardioversion was odered as

treatment.   The Cardiologist after 3 tries was unsucessful in getting the

heart to beat back to regular.    The Cardiologist then sent him to a

specialist who now wants to treat him with another Cardioversion.   He

says he will be more agressive with the Cardioversion.   I am on the fence

about this treatment somewhat.   Still doing our homework.

Does anyone out there have any stories to share ?    Please do tell.   Thank you !

Hi - I developed AFIB in 2006.  I had a cardioversion in February of this year.  I went back into normal sinus rhythm and so far have stayed there.  Wishing the best for you and DH.  Smiley Happy

My husband did show some signs of normal sinus rhythym at last appointment.....but still some irregular heartbeat going on.

The second Cardioversion did not reverse the irregular heartbeat.   A change in medication and next appointment may be an appointment for an Ablation in the near future.    Thank you everyone for your posts.   Helps in knowing what questions to ask.

So Thank you all !

I don’t have AFIB, but another diagnosis. I see a cardiologist electrophysiologist due to the extra training they are required to complete.

Positive thoughts for your DH and family.

Thank you !   My husband is seeing an electrophysilogist..... We feel confident in him and his Staff......They have welcomed our questions and concerns and have encouraged us

to ask any and all questions we have.  In addition they have been very informative

on treatments and future treatments.

Thank you all for your posts ~  all of it has been helpful to know what questions

to ask which is why I have posted here ~

@hckynut Exactly. If a car mechanic or a HVAC guy or an electrician came to my home to repair something I know that I don't have enough skill or knowledge to question what he says needs done. I have to trust him , maybe get a second opinion. However, people who have no idea what they are talking about will refuse a necessary medical procedure, or second guess a doctor. If this OP doesn't trust the doc she & her hubby need to go to another doctor for a second opinion - not a shopping channel message board.

Thank you ALL for your health journey stories and well wishes   I came

here to read about your experiences to help us to find out

if there were any questions we could be asking we might not be aware of.

My husbands Heart Specialist and Staff have been AMAZING !

In explaining procedures, outcomes and future treatments.    Coming

here in addition to reading about Afib on other sites helped us

to understand more about Afib and questions to ask.     Thank you All !

Thank you all for sharing  your Afib journey and for sharing your views.   The Wellness Board here regarding ones Health Issues and Health Journeys can be a place to vent,  educate oneself from others health issues and outcomes. How one chooses to use the information is up to the reader solely.    I choose to use the information to know what questions to ask our Health Provider by informing myself and my husband by reading about the subject whether it be here on the Wellness Formum and other venues on the Internet.

The Wellness Forum though on a shopping venue network,  has been a place for people to come and share their expereriences and health journeys be it with Afib, to Arthritis, to Depression. Prescribed Medications,  etc.    I do not regret

coming here as a place to delve.   I am Thankful to all positive posters and their experiences with Afib.   It has been enlightening....... and helped my husband

and I to ask questions we would not have been otherwise aware of.
