Am I losing weight? No. I barely can maintain my weight.
You are starving your body and it is holding on to the calories in order to maintain. You will never loose weight. I don't understand people that want to starve their body of nutrients. If any illness comes, you will be in trouble. There are many ways to eat and loose weight, yours is very dangerous. I always wonder if people are willing to do anything to loose weight, even if it could lead to death.
I have been an OMAD person since my '20's. Now at 62 I am still alive, still healthy and still weigh what I did in high school. (gravity is another matter)
I do exercise every day but not as long or as vigorous as I did in my younger days. Some people just do not need to eat as often as others.
I see my Dr. every six months and do all screenings ect... and no complaints as to how I have treated my body for decades.
Congrats @Alsace Gal on your weight loss. I do understand some days hunger can be more so than others.

As long as it doesn't turn into an eating disorder I wish you well.

@Alsace Gal, I don't know if this for you, or anyone else here, but I learned a different approach to losing weight recently from one of my doctors.
It is called "the interval diet." You have Lunch, dinner, and nothing to eat until lunch the following day. Your body will use stored fat in the meantime. I was never a big breakfast
eater, not a huge lunch, average dinner, and snacked way too much in the evening. All wrong!
I have been losing weight, 10 lbs. in 4-5 weeks. Of course, I do have a good amount of protein and take many supplements. No matter what I tried before ever worked.
I had planned to walk outside, which I always liked. But our weather has been so hot and humid, I know I could not bear it. I now have my treadmill set up in the basement, but starting slowly and will be working on more time.
I know this may not be for everyone, but this diet is working for me. It is the best thing I can do for my longterm health.
And per my cardiologist, I am drinking much more water than I ever had. He says it is very important for everyone. And it helps fill me up. Check online to see how much water you should drink. I was surprised - I drank nowhere that amount.

I MUST weigh myself every single day! That's the thing that helps me keep my weight off. It's too difficult to lose weight. Get yourself in an exercise regime. We walk twice a day logging 7 miles daily. We snack on cut up cucumbers dipped in dill ranch dressing. Delicious andfullfilling.

Amazing that you lost that much weight in such a short period of time! You have a lot of willpower! I used to have it but I don't any more! I try over and over again but I just can't seem to stick to anything. I am disgusted with myself. You're just so strong!
Please don't be so hard on yourself.
You may have missed where I posted that I forgot to eat and when I did , it wasn't enough.
I am doing s bit of renovation in my home by myself and it's been extremely hot here, 110-120. I was exhausted and would forget to eat, too tired to eat, which is very unusual for me. When I would eat, it wasn't enough and I didn't drink enough water.
Losing weight is extremely difficult, we need to eat and drink for survival and do this at least twice per day, which means we have food in our faces all the time.
If one doesn't drink alcohol, doesn't smoke, we don't have difficulty forgoing those two things, food not so much. Please, love yourself and don't be so very harsh on yourself.

I appreciate your kind words to me --- they mean a lot! I used to be so proud of myself because once I decided I was going to lose weight, I stuck to it and I did it. Not to say it was easy, because it wasn't. But now, I just feel defeated and I can't seem to commit or stick to it. I know what to eat and what not to eat but I just make bad choices anyway. I know that a person's state of mind has the biggest impact on whether they will be successful or not. I have had so much on my mind lately and am having to deal with so much, maybe this is a big part of it. Anyway, this is not about me -- it's about you! You have done so well and continue to do well and I just wanted to post and tell you so! Be careful with your remodeling and done't totally wear yourself out. Blessings!

I know for me just not having it in the house works so much better. DH is in an eating plan from his dr so I don't bake or buy anything high-carb. I always want a bagel for breakfast and he hates them, so I still buy a few at a time.
I blend a Premier Protein vanilla shake with a frozen berry blend or frozen banana. It is so thick it is like a milkshake. It literally keeps me so full I don't want food for hours. You can use it instead of a meal or just as a snack. They also make a cafe latte one that is great in the mornings blended with some crushed ice. Take it on your walk and I will almost bet you want anything naughty!!

I have tried Weight Watchers and gained weight. I was on a doctor controlled all liquid diet for three months...No solid food at all. I only lost 7 lbs in all that time.
You name the diet and I've been on it. I never lose weight and always gain even through I never cheat.
I do lose weight on low carb, but that diet puts me into Afib and causes a whole lot of medical issues.
I have celiac disease so no gluten...no bread, cake, cookies, pasta, etc
I don't snack or eat junk food. I also don't eat processed food or high sodium foods or caffeine or drink alcohol.
I am just happy to maintain my weight. I know I can't lose weight. You name it, I have tried it.
I have no medical issues and the only med I take is vitamin D3 as prescribed by my doctor. My blood work is excellent.
I have been eating this way for years. If I add more food, I gain weight.
By now I am used to it. If this diet was gonna kill me, I'd already be dead.
Adding, I never get sick, never get colds, never had the flu. I have never had COVID and have never been vaccinated against the flu or COVID.
Occasionally, I get vertigo and motion sickness. Other than that I have no issues.
Carmie, help me understand. You said you can't do a low carb diet because it causes AFib. Yet you only eat one meal a day consisting of a protein and a green salad which is basically low carb. Do you supplement that meal with carbohydrates?
08-13-2024 08:15 PM
@magicmoodz Traditional low carb diets are high in fat, with full fat dairy and lots of meat and eggs with small amounts of low carb veggies and fruit...like berries.
The diet I follow is low fat. I use olive oil and nuts. My green salads contain carrots, tomatoes, cucumbers, radishes, celery, broccoli, cauliflower, green beans, red beets, corn, spinach, mixed spring greens, and romaine and cabbage and usually some almonds.
If other veggies are available,I add them too. All Vegetables do contain carbs...some more than others. beets, corn, and carrots are higher carb veggies. Occasionally, I might eat a few cherries or few slices of apples.
The only zero carb foods are pure animal products, oil, vinegar, spices, coffee and tea.
I am not a big fruit eater and never was. I mostly eat veggies, chicken, egg whites and fish.
I cannot eat anything with wheat, ( celiac disease) and don't eat many grains. Once every couple of months, I might have some steel cut oatmeal.
I make a huge container of salad about twice a week. It takes some time to wash and cut everything. I use a food processor. Everything is fresh...not canned or frozen.

Kudos to you for maintaining such a disciplined diet. I have a sister who suffers from celiac, so I know all the limitations, but you certainly go above and beyond!
If we all ate like you, just think how much healthier we would be. Preparation of all those vegetables is admirable, but such a good idea to only do prep a couple times a week. I do love veggies, but they don't always love me back.😃
