Re: How Old Is Your Heating Pad?

@ECBG

Every patient should follow the instructions of their doctor and/or staff.

For me(have had 2 back surgeries minus the L-3/L5/S-1 Spinal discs), alternate cold/heat never worked for me. My Sports Med Doctor Friends told me to stick with just ice. Both Orthopedic Surgeons, 1 a Spinal Micro Surgeon.

My wife uses heat because she can't stand cold, especially in the winter months. She said she shivers even thinking about it, and watching me using ice almost constantly over the years. She uses those Multi-use/Heat/Cold Packs. Freezer or Microwaveable things, BIG and small.

Always ice for me for injuries. Reduces swelling and clots blood, depending on the type of injury.

Hope you are doing better. Those back problems can really limit one's every day functioning.

The new ones don't get as hot as the old ones.

I have a couple Thermipaq hot/cold packs in the freezer. The packs are clay based that you can freeze or heat in microwave.

I also have a Red + NIR led therapy pad which works well for pain. It gets warm but not hot like a heating pad.

Re: How Old Is Your Heating Pad?

My heating pad is fairly 'old', but has out-lasted several newer ones which lasted a couple of weeks past the warranty.

Sometimes old is better than new.

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).
