@SeaMaiden wrote:I take more than you would ever believe. Have for 25 years....I worked in the supplement industry for many many years....I know what to take. I stay up on all the latest info. Al's are way too pricey....you can do much better for the same thing if you know your products and potencies and find better deals.
@SeaMaiden Do you take a Fish Oil supplement? If so can you recommend a brand?

I want the extra assurance! I never said my diet was perfect!
Thank you, truly though, for mentioning amaranth, (etc.) There is a lot of the grain family that I don't prepare often enough, though I like it all. I can just see my DH's face if I should serve that under his beloved pasta sauce on Sunday!

Even if you eat healthy it doesn't mean you shouldn't take any supplements. We have so much scientific data on various vitamins, minerals, herbals, etc and what good they can do. Why not take advantage of this if you so choose? I don't know why everyone says i'ts so "hard on the body". I suffer no ill effects. I take magnesiumm to prevent leg cramps. Clearly my body needs more magnesium as I feel healthier and pain free when I take it and vice versa. Curing what ails you without relying on Rx pharmaceuticals is just sensible.

I take a daily multivitamin, I take Calcium because my doctor ordered it, I take iron because I was borderline anemic at my last visit, I take vitamin D because I was once severely deficient in vitamin D. All of those, I take medical reasons on doctor's orders. I also take Consult Heath's Beaute Caps for skin/hair/nails because my nails are thin and while I have great hair, I want to keep it the way it is and that product has a lot of Biotin in it.

@Harpa
I believe people really want to do the right thing, but like many have
mentioned upthread...unless a blood test indicates a deficiency,
overdosing on supplements Might not be the best strategy.
People believe if a little is good than a whole bunch is better....
not necessarily. Your body has to process & flush all the extra out
and creates more inflammation in the process. Just my musings.
And I like this Instagram thought...just something to ponder:

I too take supplements related to two autoimmune diseases I manage, one of which I’ve dealt with since age 17, and one of which is quite rare and quickly life threatening. I’m grateful for the wonderful people who help me.
It’s is a different world.

AL is a vitamin salesman who will convince you that your days are numbered if you don't take a ton of his. I always wonder about the quality of the stuff he peddles....we don't know do we? Due to the powers of suggestion, people THINK they're effective but are they really?
I like Andrew. I think he really believes his supplements are the best out there. But lets not fool ourselves the man's #1 goal is not to educate people like he says, its to sell his product and make money. And the reason he is in Nevada is not for the endless sunlight. That may be a side benefit but Nevada has one of the best business friendly tax codes in the nation and its relatively cheap cost of living means he can keep his labor costs low.

@MalteseMomma I'm not big on supplements ( B12-statistics show almost everyone is low and sometimes D) because food is my medicine. Wouldn't take Andrew Lessman in any event because he uses gelatin capsules.
@MalteseMomma wrote:Andrew Lessman's vitamins made me feel so tired and suddenly old. I am 82 but I never felt like it.lol
Suddenly I was remarkably unable to do anything i always did before and only wanted to sleep.
I was getting depressed,so I stopped them and I quickly became my old happy self ,with energy again...lol
I also tried his EYE vitamins. My sensitive eye got worse and I needed my glasses more than usual,so I returned to my ,Preser Vision Areds 2,sold everywhere..lol
