@aubnwa01 I totally agree with you. We have to what is right for us as individual's.
I'm on 70 now too, ugh, and hope to continue on the lowest dose for life.
I forgot to mention our body types are all different too. Estrogen likes fat. So if you are on the thicker side you might do better than those who are thin. My bones and mind, happiness were the key determining factor for me when I discussed it with GYN.
Life is a risk in general. It's all one day at a time for everyone and as they say "we've come a long way baby" on the science.

@Pink123 When my dr. 1st started me on the patches in 1993, she prescribed the twice weekly patch in the 0.050mg dose & I can't recall at what point I tapered to a single weekly 0.025mg dose, but it's been awhile now.
I've had several gyns in the intervening years, since I moved to a different state in 2006. For quite a number of years, my internist PCP was precribing my patches for me & about 8-9 years ago, he told me since it wasn't his area of expertise, he didn't know enough about HRT to continue & referred me to a gyno who specialized in menopause. I saw (& adored him) for several years & now see the young lady that took over his practice when he retired & she's great, too.
They always leave it up to me if I wish to continue & since I just generally feel better on my small dose of HRT, I stay on them & my dr. has no issue at all with it, as long as I stay on top of my annual tests & well-woman stuff.

@aubnwa01 Am happy to hear you are on the same .025 patch.
I wanted to ask do you take Premarin Cream as well? Just a touch inside makes a world of difference if you are active. But it takes time.
Premarin cream is so so expensive here in the US because it never went off patent. I purchase mine from Canada or UK. GYN just faxes it to a pharmacy and I receive it in the mail.
Such a rip off in our drug prices in USA.

@Pink123 I concur regarding Premarin. Due to cost, my Gyn prescribes Estradiol cream. I was previously on HRT (don't remember RX). I had intermittent middle ear pain in left ear for years. Complained to PCP at every visit, went to ENT who found no basis for pain, consulted with dentist with no relief. Inner ear pain ceased within 2 weeks after I stopped HRT. Who knew there was correlation but I am certain the HRT was the culprit.

I'm sorry I have no answer to that question.
Never heard of this odd phenomenon, glad you found your solution to the problem though.
Best wishes, ps. I only take ERT.

@Pink123 No, I don't use Premarin cream, just the estradiol patches. Before I switched from oral HRT to the patches, I took oral Premarin for a short time.
ETA: Have you ever tried a generic estrogen cream to see if it might be a cheaper option than the brand name & still work for you? Or, do they not make a generic version, due to the patent issues?

@katie1859 - I have not and would not consider taking any hormones at all. I do not consider menopause as a disease in need of a cure, but a natural process. I say this as someone who was not severely impacted in any way by menopause, so that may color my response more than a little, but, also, I knew and was friends with a wonderful woman named MaryAnn (real name). MaryAnn went on HRT for her menopause symptoms. She took these hormones for 5 years, and then, she developed breast cancer. She underwent chemo and radiation for her breast cancer. I failed to mention that MaryAnn's diet was pristine. She ate a little bit of fish, and tons of vegetables and ate salads every single day. She was fit and exercised regularly, too. After she fought off her breast cancer, cancer struck her pancreas and killed her. HRT is known to cause breast cancer, and like clockwork, right at the five year mark, MaryAnn developed that breast cancer.
I am not a fan of HRT, because it killed someone I knew and cared about. Please do not kid yourself that taking HRT for an extended period of time is safe. It is not.

No @aubnwa01 Unfortunately they never went off patent. But it's great in Canada or the UK pricewise. About 35 or 40? Here in USA $377.00 or so last time I looked. lol.

Turned 62 on Christmas Eve and not taking any. Do not feel the need nor does my female Dr. think that I should.
At 32 had my uterus and one ovary removed and I have no ideal when I went through menopause. Did not feel a thing.

@Trinity11 Totally agree, breast cancer is in my family and my doctor would never prescribe hormones for me.
