Don't forget to put it on you list of allergies in your medical information!

Prednisone reversed it for me. I suspect Benedryl is not enough. Call the doctor to call in a prescription for Prednisone. Consult her. I believe that is the solution. As long as your throat is not closing up with breathing issues, it is annoying, but goes completely away with Prednisone.

I feel for you!!! I was on chemo at the time and had a very bad stiff neck. It was so bad I had to go to the emergency room. They prescribed Flexarill (sp). I took just one pill and broke out in a horrible itcy rash that formed all over my arms and legs. It lasted for 30 days and nothing I took would get rid of it. A Physician's assistant I saw prescribed a cream and the name of it was 20 feet long, lol. It was so strong the pharmacist told me not to use on my face under any circumstances . That cream got rid of the rash. I lost sleep for 30 days and I couldn't even wear shoes because the rash made them swell. I know you have to be miserable. Hope yours goes away sooner then mine did. The chemo gave me no side effects and I'd take that any day over a rash!!

@Justice4all - I didn't even think about Prednisone - I actually am allergic to many things - bee stings, poison ivy - I do have some prednisone in my cabinet that I use for my poison ivy. I almost thought of using my Epipen if it got bad enough (although I think my Epipen is outdated at this point - its so expensive, I haven't been able to replace it - which is really sad for people who need it).

@Blingqueen023 - so sorry you went through that on top of taking chemo treatments! Bless your heart! This morning it was on my knees and ears only - which is a good thing - I hope this goes away soon! I also need to stay out of the sun - I just thought of that - if you are on antibiotics - I've been taking my dog for a walk every day and I wonder if the sun had something to do with it.

Consult your doctor-check date, dosage of your prednisone.

It probably does get worse at certain times of the day. I am allergic to all penicillins, including your medication. Prednisone did the trick! But again, check with your doctor as you may need a fresh medication/dosage.

Same here. Of course check with your doctor. However, if you can deal with the sde effects, ride the meds out. Then if you still have whatever is ailing you, maybe grt something new. I always hated it when the doctor would prescribe meds, then 2 days later tell you to stop taking it and have you on something else. Meanwhile, you are paying for meds that you don't need. This was a time to where Cipro was big and $$$$$$$. Generic was not an option. Get samples to see if its worth buying. Good luck!

@qualitygal wrote:This is one reason I'm so leary of taking pills. What if you have an allergic reaction and don't even know you are allergic. The one that closes off the throat scares the heck out of me.
Me too @qualitygal and you hear it listed for almost every single drug advertised on TV. My first thought is, if you're alone, you're pretty much gonna die.

@hoosieroriginal- hope you're feeling better. My dermatologist told me during bout of hives. That hives are usually a reaction from a virus and I was just coming off of being sick when I broke out. She and my primary didn't want me to go on prednisone, so she prescribed the Claritin 2x a day because the Benadryl wore off too quickly. I remembered the Sarna from another itchy episode and it works wonders for me.
Everyone is different but I hope this helps.
