Herniated Disc surgery

Anybody here had this done, if so how did it go for you? I'm scheduled for surgery Oct.5th. Dr. talks as though there's no downtime, just have to be careful not to overdo or strain so as not to re-injure again. It's also done outpatient. Said no PT, can drive, etc. So just really would like to hear from someone that has actually gone through this so I'll know what to expect. Surgery is being done by a spine surgeon.
