Help, please. Treadmills in old houses??

Hello!

I've read a lot of threads on TMs, but have yet to see this question asked:

I'd very much appreciate some advice regarding the placement of a new TM in my old home.

The house I live in is very old, & years ago I was told to not put a TM on the 1st or 2nd floor, as the vibrations of it while being used would've been heard all over the house. Plus, it was said that the pounding & vibrations would be bad for a house - so down to the cellar it went, onto a solid concrete floor. (I know a girl who also lives in an old place, & the stuff in her house DOES shake, vibrate & hum while she's on it.)

Anyway, after about 4 or 5 years, my previous TM bit the dust, which I suspect might have been due to the fact that it was in the cellar - which can get pretty damp during the hot summer months. Maybe the parts got rusty? IDK. The cost of servicing an old model (12-13 yr old ProForm) would be a waste of money. I've called 2 repair places describing its problems...& both said 'junk it'.

However, it'd be SO much nicer if this time I could keep the new [yet unbought] TM upstairs & watch TV while using it! It was such a drag staring at the wall in the cellar, though I HATE the idea of a big, clunky TM taking up space.

My question is - do any of you also live in a big, rattly old place, & if so, where is your TM? Also, is there a sturdy one w/ a small footprint that you know of?

TIA!!
