Thanks everyone for the suggestions...I will stop at the drug store to look for the heel guards....I do take good care of my feet (using lotion, emjoy, etc.) so I am thinking I need the guard as well.

@Group 5 minus 1 ...honestly not much...pushed the drug that the nurse warned me against using and said use Amlactin....which did nothing.

@Mom2Dogs

Good old Vick's does wonders for my winter cracked heels.

Go see a podiatrist, those are the experts when it comes to feet.  Wow, I know a lot of nurses, including my husband but I don't know of any who would be so unprofessional as to over ride a physician like that.  That is the sign of a very bad nurse.

Please try the old timey, farmer’s ointment, Vermont’s Original Bag Balm.  Softerns and heals heels and I also found it’s good for fingernails, cuticles.  Inexpensive and can be found at most drug stores.

Yes rich lotion and socks at night do wonders but for me I also need to physically remove the buildup.  Without that they crack again.

Try the Foot Smart catalog.  They not only carry comfortable shoes, but every solution to most foot issues possible, if that can be done!

Shoes with heels and esp shoes with wedge heels will help with heel pain.  Flat shoes make heel pain worse.
