Be positive about it @SeaMaiden. I know that's easier said than done. Worrying about something you know little about is pointless. Good luck to you and I hope it's nothing serious. Please keep us posted.

As an RN I would encourage you to have a work up with a cardiologist, being in your 60's and post menopausal things can change- It would give you peace of mind to know from the specialist if there is concern

@Shelbelle She did not do an EKG. 😐
I would think an EKG is standard procedure at a yearly physical, it is with my doc. You should ask her for one.

I've never had an EKG when having a pap or regular check up.

You are uncomfortable with the situation and need to contact your doctor and explain to her what you are feeling and thinking.
Before you cause yourself anxiety and subconsciously begin thinking you feel something like beats in your heart, contact your doctor and get answers.
She told you it was nothing to worry about however you are worrying about it. In fact ask your doctor why she thinks it is nothing to worry about.
Ask about an EKG. It is your body, your health and your peace of mind.

I have PVCs and bradycardia and am supposed to get an echo annually to keep an eye on it. We have heart disease in my family. I'd follow up, if only for your peace of mind.

I am surprised your doctor did not do an EKG. I won't go into the details but I was referred to the ER for an irregular heart beat. I have Pulmonary Ventricular Contractions (PVC). I have never had any type of heart problem. I think it is stress and anxiety. I went to the cardiologist where he did an ultrasound on my heart and the arteries in the neck and I had a 48 hour heart monitor. I go back for a follow up appointment next week. My initial appointment with the cardiologist was him stating that you don't take a good heart and then have a bad heart. I am taking it one day at a time and trying not to worry. You should call your doctor to get clarification. Good Luck to you and Good Health.

@SeaMaiden An EKG doesn't always show a problem. If your doctor were worried, that would most likely be the first test, but there are many others.

@chiclets Actually, my Dr never said it was nothing to worry about. She did not say anything at all other than asking me if I could feel it the skipped beats). I told her no. I did not say anything about it to her and she continued on with the exam.

I would check again with your doctor. However an EKG (even lengthy 12 lead one) may not show anything if it is sporadic. They might want do some more imaging tests and set you with with a 2 week monitor. That what I had to have done.
