@I am still oxox ... Me too. Also hereditary. I'm 65. My SO had been bugging me to get my hearing tested, which I did last week. Mild to moderate loss.... same curves in both ears.

I've been doing some research, because there are a lot of OTC options now that are VERY TEMPTING to try! (For the prices!) I'll probably go to Costco. They have some advanced ones that I'll be able to use for everything... phone calls, music, etc., for $1,500. These require batteries, but the rechargeables are $1,000 more, and that's too much for the convenience of not having to change the batteries.

My mother has done as well, if not better, with Costco than with independent audiologists. And, they have a great return policy if you're not satisfied.

@chlema Oh that dreaded word "what," lol, DH is always saying it, I told him to stop, and he wears hearing aids. One Sunday in the garden, the only day he is home, I was giving him instructions and he kept saying what, so I said his hearing aids were no good, and he told me that he wasn't wearing them, so I said he had better wear them on Sundays so he can hear what i am saying, which is probably why he wasn't wearing them, lol.
