How did the Prolia damage your existing dental implants? That doesn't sound right to me. I'm on Prolia and I have several existing implants so I'm just asking.

Re: Has anyone tried Turmeric for joint issues...

For joint issues try UC Collagen II, take one 40 mg cap daily.  Look up older threads here for joint issues, there are several older very helpful ones

As far as I'm concerned, all the folk medicine "cures" for joint pain are just money down a rat hole.  Why waste it when you can go to the doctor and get something that will actually work?  You waste precious time while the condition worsens.

I would also like to know this as I take Prolia shots.

Be VERY careful with Turmeric. Even though it's the craze in supplements

It has a high level of toxicity so do your homework before you take it.

Re: Has anyone tried Turmeric for joint issues...

I've taken turmeric and collagen type II, and neither one did anything for my joints.  In fact, I've tried both supplements more than once for months at a time and always bought brands a third-party testing site (Consumer Labs) recommended. I always hoped that "this time" I would feel some difference or notice improvement.  Nope.  So neither of those supplements work for me.

What I have taken for years and know helps me is the sulfate forms of Glucosamine/Chondroitin.  This is the one I take:

I'd try this this for minor joint pain, but you might not get relief. Too many side effects with tumeric.

@SilleeMee

It causes the gums and cadaveric bone grafts that I had to harden and the teeth pulled away from it.  I had them replaced a couple times but to no avail and I was getting nerve pain (trigeminal neuralgia) in that area, so it was felt best to remove them and try to wear partials (which I hate) but I do what I can.  I was warned not to take the Prolia with so much dental work by one oral surgeon but another endodontist said he saw no contraindications as did my hematologist. As my grandmother used to say "bought wit can be expensive but it's the best you will ever get."

Thank you for responding to my question. Have you taken other bone density drugs?...bisphosphonates such as Boniva, Actonel, Fosamax? TX.

One other question, sorry...

How long before the Prolia did you get implant surgery done? Were you on Prolia already when you had the implant surgery?

Re: Has anyone tried Turmeric for joint issues...

I've never known anyone who had significant improvement with Tumeric for pain/inflammation. If trials with prescription drugs and treatments (steroid injects, etc) are marginally helpful, Tumeric is no replacement for those treatments. Perhaps it would help someone who had early symptoms, with milder discomfort?

For me, it did nothing, except give me the worst GI distress and heartburn, ever. After reading the side effects and contradictions, I realized it was not safe for me, anyway.

It's known to cause GI distress, it's a blood thinner and those with gallstones need to avoid it. High doses can be toxic. There are probably more cautions, these were just a personal wake up call.

Dietary supplements are not necessarily safer than prescription meds. Docs often write scripts for OTC drugs and supplements. All can have untoward effects. Always check with your health care provider before starting a new supplement.
