I recently had my second colonoscopy. The test itself is easy. The prep is the inconvenient part of the test. There are different types of preps but all have you drinking lots of it on a timetable. I claimed our nicest bathroom, lit a scented candle and brought my suduko game book in the bathroom. So my bathroom was ready for me! No cramps or pains. It's just a matter of waiting for everything to go through you. Good luck! Em

The test is a breeze, very quick and you wont remember a thing. The prep is worst part, I took the pills, so easy, and no foul liquids to get down, yuck!!! And I only had to watch my diet the last 24 hours before the test.

Of course, wear as much makeup as you want, it is not your face they will be examining, trust me on this!!!

None of the bad stories I heard came true for me. I found the prep and procedure very easy. I ate light the day before the prep and had wipes and vaseline on hand. I didn't find the need to stay close to the bathroom. I had plenty of time to get there. The whole thing was a minor inconvenience for me.

I have to say that mine went smoothly. Yes, I had to use the bathroom and the solution you have to drink wasn't the greatest. But, nothing like some of the horror stories you have probably heard.
If people have a bad experience then they shouldn't elaborate on it. What's the point of frightening the dickens out of people? It just might stop someone from having life saving exam.
After mine, I went directly to the diner then home to watch tv. I went to the casino the next morning! Plan something for yourself to look forward to. Try not to worry and God bless

A few years ago I had one. In the middle of the night I had the runs with blood and called the doctor. Whoever was on call asked me if I was sure and said probably hemmoroids. Well it was happening too often so I made an appointment that day and my doctor saw blood and sent me to emergengy. I stayed over night and the nurse brouht in the drink about midnight and drink it slowly. I was to have the procedure mid morning. The nurse said something like the doctors don't realize how terrible it is. everything turned out ok and nothing in movements to date.

I agree with everyone about the actual procedure being not bad at all; being put in "twilight" I don't remember anything past "lay on your side". The prep is the WORST!!!! They had told me to refrigerate the solution cause with it being cold it would go down easier (if that was easier, I'd hate to see what it's like at room temp). I had to set my alarm for every 15 minutes to wake up and drink cause I would knock out and knew I wouldn't wake up on my own. I would drink water after each time I had to drink the solution up until the time they told me I could no longer drink anything. After I stopped drinking the water each time I drank the solution my mouth felt and tasted like yuck. When i was yacking with them while i was getting ready to be taken into the room i had mentioned this to them, they said that after the time I had to quit drinking the water I could've swished my mouth with water then spit it out. If they haven't said anything about either drinking it cold or swishing water in your mouth, verify it with them. Good luck, it will soon be a distant memory :-)

This is one of the EASIEST and BEST things you can do for yourself. Here's what I'm saying to you for prep:
DO NOT do that Go Lightly drink - this stuff is awful. Instead, buy y ourself the 8.4 oz of Mirolax and mix the entire bottle in 2 32oz bottles of gatorade that are NOT red, purple or the like. There are many very light colored gatorades that you can drink for this test.
Drink them mid afternoon because it may take a few hours to get going and work. Then once you start to go, it'll take a few hours in and out of the bathroom to finally clear out yourself. No big deal, it's as if you have a bad case of diarhhea. Again NO BIG DEAL.
Yes you need a driver because they at the hospital will want you to have one even though you really may not.
Piece of cake to get this test done. They will put you in a twilight sleep and it'll be done and over with before you know it.
BEST THING - you'll know your results immediately afterwards.
STOP over thinking this - there's nothing to it. So many people avoid this test just because they don't want to poop!!! You won't even know what's going on during the test.
This test WILL save your live. I speak the truth. Not getting this done is truly a health hazard. Don't go there just because you don't want to spend time in your bathroom and have at it.
Wishing you the best results ever. ANd then BE SO GLAD you did this for yourself. Believe me, you do not want to not do this test only to find out you have cancer. Been there done that with my husband. YES HE'S ALIVE TODAY BECAUSE HE HAD THIS TEST DONE.

Had my first last October, 54 years old at that time. Anyway it was no big deal, took Prepopik and would use that one again in a heart beat as it tasted fine and worked just as it was suppose to. I am just like you about my makeup, and no I didn't wear any but maybe you could use a little something. After the procedure my stomach felt a bit inflated if you will but that is normal. You will be fine, I was worried about results also but all went well. Don't eat big meals prior to the days leading up to it as what ever goes in has to come out and light eating will make the prep all that much easier.
