Has anyone had PRP or,STEM CELL THERAPY ON HIPS

[ Edited ]

I had PRP treatment a while back on both hips. It worked for a while on harsh pain. I am now thinking of stem cell treatment on both hips. Now, these are stem cells from live births.

long story, but I went from Osteopenia  to severe Osteoporosis (-3). in 8 months. I know in my heart it was due to an drug given to me to fight infection in hospital, as I am allergic to all most all antibiotics in pill form.

i went from going to gym, walking, doing treadmill to extreme pain and not being able to walk without walker. If I take bone meds like prolia, etc, I might have side effects because of other issues.  Plus, prolia for me would be life long, never stop.  I am not a candidate for other bone meds.  I also cannot have hip replacement because of osteoporosis.  I am 77, it would take maybe a year of treatment before I could even have a replacement ...if bone med worked

so, even though it is out of pocket for stem cell, I am thinking of it. I have realize it won't cure me, but at my age it might make life a little easier.

has anyone had treatment, or know someone who has had this?.

@shoekitty    know nothing about stem cells for the hip but my sister-in-law used stem cell treatment in lieu of total knee replacement  she was 86 at the time and now at 91 it is still working fine for her

@shoekitty same as @mrshckynut not familiar with anyone with hip stem cell treatment but do know a friend that had stem cell rotator cuff treatment.

He followed instructions and did PT religiously and had great results. Couldn't get him off the golf course if you tried.

I have a friend that had the stem cell therapy done on her spine and it worked until it didn't.

@shoekitty @I had PRP on both hips for tendonitis and paid out of pocket. Did not help at all. I was so disappointed.

@Rose429   I know., sorry it didn't work.   Dr told me I could try PRP, it works for some, and others not so much. Since my hips are so far gone she recommended the stem cell.  But I chose PRP to,start with. For 4 weeks it helped with mobility. I felt looser.  after that it just didn't work. I heard it works well or it doesn't. It isn't cheap, but when you are in pain, we hope and try. Yes, PRP, stem cell and all those therapies are out of pocket. And yikes on the stem cell lol. But I want to try
