I'm a fan of the twilight sleep as well.  It's like the best nap ever.

Re: Has anyone ever used a medical escort service?

I googled it here in Philadelphia and all I got was the other kind of escort service with the girls.  And I thought that if something like a medical escort service exists, we would have it for sure.

I doubt they are commonly categorized as such. "Medical transportation" or "senior transportation" preceeded by your city/area might give more realistic results.

@CLEM  Check under "medical transport".  Surely the Philly area has such a thing.

You know what they do where I live if you don't have home care after a procedure?  Surgery, I mean.  They slap you in a nursing home.

Maybe they should use the word transport, not escort.

Re: Has anyone ever used a medical escort service?

Yes, I've used such a service multiple times.  I live in NJ and at the time I was working my care was in NYC.  Everyone in my family was working as were all of my friends.  I had plastic surgery and the facility offered this service which included a person plus limo service.  These people are bonded and known to the facility where I had surgery and it was a pleasant and very helpful service.  I took advantage of the service twice until I could travel on my own.

I have since retired and had a recent procedure....my husband is now retired as well but was recuperating from illness so I was about to cancel.  I was happy to find out that my local hospital provided this service and they also offered to pick me up and bring me to the hospital.  I was delighted and the people were very nice and employed by the hospital.

I wouldn't hesitate to use this service as long as it is affiliated with a facility, hospital or agency I trusted.

@Kachina624

@Moonchilde

Yes, we do have a tranportation service for seniors but that only gets you to and from where you need to go and you often have to wait for a rather long time.  There is no person who goes with you and also picks you up and signs you out after an outpatient procedure.

This whole concept could be an amazing business opportunity for someone willing to provide this service. More and more elders are living alone and would be grateful to have this service.
