Re: Has anyone else had dehydration

I used to be a heavy drinker (alcohol) until one day I ended up in the hospital with severe dehydration.

It all started one night, after drinking all day, when I went to lay down for the night. Then suddenly...I mean snap...and the room was spinning like never before and I felt really nauseous. I couldn't even walk because I totally lost my sense of balance. Come to find out later this is a symptom...severe vertigo. It took everything I had to crawl to the bathroom and barf. I stayed on the floor next to the john and barfed all night, the whole time room spinning really bad. I thought I was dying and probably would have if not for my friend who took me to the hospital that night..

It was the last night I ever took a drink.

I recently ended up in the ER dehydrated. I drink water constantly all day long. What I read was that too much water can actually cause your electrolytes to get out of whack. You need sodium and potassium as well. There are several good products on Amazon that are better than Gatorade or sport drinks. Little or no sugar. I've also used Pedialyte too but prefer the Amazon products.

If you don't drink enough water, that should suffice. If you drink a lot of water and are dehydrated, make sure you are drinking something with sodium and potassium, possibly magnesium. There was a lot of info in the reviews on the Amazon products. I then researched what I'd read, and learned a lot.

Hello Reba....could you post which product from amazon you are using??

Re: Has anyone else had dehydration

I run and learned the hard way in high school and once while in college when I passed out and suffered a severe concussion to stay hydrated.
