I avoid the scale and go with the looseness/fit of my clothes. That's always a good indicator of my progress and makes me very happy.

I no longer weigh myself. I went from a size 2X to an XL over the summer. I can't taste or smell anything, you don't want to eat.
I just don't worry about it anymore.

The scales helps to validate my progress. I found a few of my favorite things getting a little snug. Counting calories and on my way to lose ten pounds I gained during the holidays.

Weight on a scale isn't telling you the whole story. I learned to do my body calculations which are far different than that idiot BMI they came up with.
So yes, I gave up the scale.

I gave away my scale in 1992. I have only learned my weight once since then, when it was required before surgery (my doctor does the occasional "stealth weigh-in" for me, where he doesn't tell me what the scale says). It took a while, but eventually my weight, which had yo-yo'd wildly through a range of more than 100 pounds, settled at a nice, healthy average size.
Everyone is different. For some people the scale is a good check and measure of progress. For others it's a constant source of frustration and anxiety. Only you can tell what will work best for you.

Weigh once a week, same time and wearing the same thing.

Give up the scale? No. But I stopped letting it rule my emotions over a decade ago. I no longer have ""goal weights"" or anything like that. I honestly don't care about my ""weight."" And I have managed to lose lots of fat & get healthy anyway.
