I saw it featured on GMA this morning. I didn't catch the name of the presenters, one was Robin's MD.
This was shocking: The third cause of death in America is preventable doctor mistakes.
Supposedly, it's chuck full of information, including what vitamins we all need.
Just ordered it from Amazon.

I'm not stunned at all.

Has Anyone Read "The Patient's Handbook"?
Every time I go to the hospital be it as an Outpatient or an Inpatient, I am given "The Patient's Handbook". Monday when both my wife and I went we each got a copy, but since the person working the Procedure Center Desk is a good friend of both of ours, we requested she save the hospital money and keep them.

Really? That book is over $15 and your hospital gives it out to both of you every time you go there as an inpatient or outpatient?
Are you sure it's the same book?

Hi John,
I think that's different. In my hospital, that's a pamphlet on patient rights and the like.
This is by one author and delves into common doctor mistakes, what vitamins to take, how to find the best specialists, etc.
Hope you and Cindy and the kitties are doing well...

SORRY ALL!
I originally made a mistake in the title. It's as seen above.

Thanks, Noel. Looks to be a good book. We, each of us, know ourselves. So we must make sure we ask plenty of questions. Have conversations with our docs, etc. Make sure that they know that we have done our research and plan to keep on top of everything. Sometimes (if it isn't an emergency, of course), we should write down a suggestion re: a med., go home, and research it, before they order several months' worth by mail. I've declined, and other arrangements/meds were substituted, instead. All non-emergency items, etc.
