Re: Had my breast biopsy today

@fairydogmother --you'll  get thru this--I HATE waiting!!! But better to know then to wonder--had a few of these myself but I have to say--the drs/techs that did it were absolutely top notch and did everything quickly and as pain free as possible. Had this done to both breasts--in the "good" breast, they left a marker in 2 spots to be able to locate it faster. The "bad" breast was to further identify that mass--which was malignant. My DD just had the same thing done last year at this time--all is well with her. Hang in there!!!

Those 5 to 7 days are hard to wait on.  My mother and the rest of my family and friends were furious with me since I told no one until after I found out the good news.  Mom had her own medical problems so I did not see the need to worry her until or if it became necessary.  I am praying yours news will be wonderful!!

Re: Had my breast biopsy today

@fairydogmother I think it depends a lot on who is performing the biopsy and the location of what they are trying to biopsy.  I also had a very painful and difficult procedure in 2014 on my right breast.

My results were not good and I went through the whole gamut of treatment.  I have say after all I have been through that biopsy was probably the worst.  I feel for you and I wish you all the best!

the initial dose of lidocaine wasn't sufficient. I knew it when Doctor plunged that big contraption deep into my breast and it felt like I was being stabbed. I let out a loud yell. Was better after more lidocaine but still hurt some. I've been through much worse though. Tell me about your treatment. Are you cancer free I hope?

Re: Had my breast biopsy today

@fairydogmother Thank you for your concern.  I am cancer free (fingers crossed)  Smiley Happy

In my case I had surgery, chemo and radiation.  In total it took 9 months, it's a lot of time but it saved my life and has given me another 10 years and many more I hope!  Again, I wish you the best result possible.

Re: Had my breast biopsy today

[ Edited ]

@fairydogmother --I was dx in 2012 with hormone positive lobular breast cancer, stage 3. Went thru mastectomy surgery and decided not to reconstruct. And then in 2016, decided to have the "good" breast taken off too--being lopsided was so dumb,  and no more mammos now.Woman Wink  Then went thru 5 months of chemo and 33 days of radiation. I decided on a very agressive form of treatment--so I could get it done faster mostly. I actually did a whole better with the chemo than prob most of the people who go thru it. The last month was brutal, however. First was chemo every 2 weeks for 4 sessions (8 weeks), then went for  weekly chemo session for 12 weeks. I also took anti estrogen drugs for almost 10 years afterwards. In 2022, at my last oncology appt, my dr declared me cured!!  I still have issues from the treatments, not horrendous,  but was warned about that. Had neuropathy in my feet and in my fingertips from the chemo right afterwards--- my feet cleared up but still have some numbness in my fingertips. It was a wild ride, but my team at the hospital was stellar !! Sending good thought for you!!

Re: Had my breast biopsy today

@fairydogmother  I am saying a prayer for you; may you have good results.

The stereotactic breast biopsy I had years ago was one of the most painful procedures I've ever endured, and I've had brain surgery!

You have my utmost empathy and sympathy. Yes, most of the resuts are benign and I fervently hope yours is as well. God bless.

Re: Had my breast biopsy today

@fairydogmother - I'm sorry to hear what you went thru!  I am hoping and praying for only the best for you!

I am in a similar situation.  I have to go next Tuesday morning for an ultrasound on my right side and then possibly a biopsy, depending what they find.  My nerves are shot!  The waiting is horrible!

Please keep us updated on your situation.  Sending hugs your way!!  Heart
