Colon cancer runs in my family too. My brother had his first one at age 50 and had a big chunk of his colon removed due to cancer - he's now 68 and doing well. Several relatives on both sides of my family have had it. I get my colonoscopy every 5 years without fail.
IMO, the prep is worse than the test. Last time, I talked my dr into giving me a different type of prep - not so much to drink. I had to take laxatives for a few days too but I'd rather do that than gag while choking down a gallon of that prep. ugh.
