Re: Good news about my EVENITY!

@juanitalinda

My most recent Dexa findings post-Evenity:

FINDINGS:

The weighted average bone mineral density (BMD) of the lumbar spine using L1 through L4 vertebrae measures 1.195 g/cm2, corresponding to a T-score of 0.1, equating to 101% bone mineral density of a healthy young adult control population. The BMD on the prior study measured 1.041 g/cm2, suggesting interval increase (14.8%) in comparison to the previous study.

The left femoral neck bone mineral density measures 0.678 g/cm2, corresponding to a T-score of -2.6, equating to 65% bone mineral density of a health young adult control population. The total hip BMD on the prior study measured 0.651 g/cm2, compared to the current total hip bone mineral density of 0.735 g/cm2, suggesting interval increase (12.9%) in comparison to the previous study.

The right femoral neck bone mineral density measures 0.689 g/cm2, corresponding to a T-score of -2.5, equating to 66% bone mineral density of a health young adult control population. The total hip BMD on the prior study measured 0.664 g/cm2, compared to the current total hip bone mineral density of 0.745 g/cm2, suggesting interval increase (12.2%) in comparison to the previous study.

from Evenity?

@Fifi1

I changed my diet quite a bit to include more calcium-rich foods. Also added some supplements.

I do 100 weight-bearing squats everyday plus more various resistance workouts. I walk on a very steep incline treadmill for 30 minutes everyday.

For an entire year, while on Evenity, I was determined to get my bone density better and I believe it worked.

I got 12% increase in bone density after 12 monthly injections of EVENITY. That's huge and I am thrilled!  happy dance.gif

@Congratulations @SilleeMee !!  This was a year one program if I believe and will you continue in some way or stop Evenity altogether?

My doc won't give it to me as my osteoporosis isn't severe enough.  To me that's like being a little pregnant. If you have it, you have it?!

He keeps pushing Fosamax and I won't take it.

@rockygems123

As far as I know Evenity is given only once and then after that Prolia ( one injection every 6 months x 2). Prolia is given to prevent bone loss after Evenity. That's usually how it goes. Then after Prolia a bisphosphonate drug is prescribed such as Fosamax or Boniva oraly which I can't tolerate so it will be the infusion type Reclast (one a year) until my bone density gets up there.

@SilleeMee

So far I haven't had any side effects, but even if I did, I doubt they would be worse than the fractured bones.
