Golf advice if you please

My golf instructor got mad at me because I told her about some unsolicited advice I was given while out on the driving range. She said she would not instruct me anymore if I don't cut the next person off who tries to give me advice. The man was 80 years old for crrying out loud! Is my golf instructor insane??!!!
