Re: Gluten Free

[ Edited ]

I don't have any problems when I eat food that has gluten. However, I have read some information about gluten and it's association with amyloid plaques in brain tissue which has been tied to Alzheimer's. So I try to limit my intake of gluten in various foods.

@SilleeMee  That’s interesting.  I’ll have to search for more information.  I have never heard that before.

i do know that our modern wheat is not the ancient grain it once was.  We have messed with it and now it is not as good for us that it once was.  We need to stop genetically modifying foods. Our corn is ruined also.

I do have to say, more often than not, the issues are not gluten related.

Most of the time it’s just caused from a very processed diet heavy

in animal product/byproducts, thus causing the digestive issues.

All the talk about modified grains, etc, etc. is just noise.

It’s not the grains, but the fat/oil, salt, sugar (all the processing)

added to those grains which cause the issues.

Funny, many people will begin to eat clean...low fat, plant based,

whole food diet...and all those issues disappear...even when eating

wheat products.  “Gluten” is no longer an issue.

Fankly, I don't think there will be many takers here.  Read your answer, again, tone-wise.

There is no scientific fact in the "gluten fad."  We're not talking about that here at all.  We're talking about true Celiacs, people like me who have tested positive to Igs (antigens) to gluten and are on the "Celiac cusp," as my GI doc indicated, and then there are many, many folks who are very to quite "sensitive" to gluten, which can manifest itself in terms of gasrointestinal inflammation.  This last population is what is being discussed here.

Try telling my daughter that if she eats your "clean way," she will no longer have intestinal issues.  Not true.  When she's off gluten, she's incredibly good.  If she re-introduces gluten, she becomes quite ill, plus experiences chronic D to boot.

It is what it is for us who simply cannot tolerate gluten.  Believe it!

Re: Gluten Free

[ Edited ]

I went gluten free in August of this year because I developed a severe gluten into, erance.  This is what happened:  I dropped 10 pounds immediately, my stomach is as flat as a board now, all of my ay GI problems, rashes, fatigue were gone within a week and I’m no longer itchy.  Like your husband, I developed terrible constipation.  My doctor had me do the following which got me back to being completely normal again:

drink 10 glasses of water a day, eat fruit 2 to 3 times a day, eat 2 cups of green veggies at each meal (I found broccoli & spinach work best for me) and if you can tolerate them, kidney beans (1/2 cup) I make bean salads with them.   I also eat only brown rice with my lunch and dinner.  I totally eliminated eating the special Gluten Free bread, pasta and desserts made with rice, potato and other types of binding flours.  Those gluten free processed foods made the situation worse.

By the way, I feel great without gluten.

This YouTube video is timely.

Sources/studies listed in video/description box for more info.

1. Glyphosate,

2. Yeast,

3. Bromated flours

Digestive issues caused by these factors other than gluten.  That’s why ‘gluten-free’ products still bother some people...yeast and/or bromate flours.

He mentioned...if you suspect yeast, eat unleavened bread.

If you suspect wheat in general, eat wheat berries...

which are not exposed to the glyphosate or bomated practices.

Again, common issues which are nothing to do with the actual grain.

My doctor told me a gluten free diet is for one with celiac disease.

Gluten is needed to maintain good health in healthy people.

@sidsmom

Very interesting video, especially if you (anyone) suspects a gluten intolerance.

Sometimes I thiink I have an intolerance (to a degree) and sometimes I don't.  Mic really puts forth why this might happen!

Thanks for posting.
