I have glaucoma in my left eye ( diagnosed over a yr ago) for which I was prescribed eye gtts at night but my eye doctor never mentioned any vitamins. I have been  taking a multiple vitamin and extra C daily for years. I will say that there has been no change in the status of my glaucoma so not sure if the vitamins made any difference, never heard of it but I'm going to ask my eye doctor when I see him in Jan. My husband has glacoma.  Diagnosed about 10 years ago.  My eye pressures have been creeping up but not diagnosed yet.  I found a supplement listed below.  I found them at Amazon.  My next appointment is in early Feb.  I'm hoping it makes a differnce.

NEUROPTENE (this is the name): Unveil the power of Neuroptene, a dietary supplement to support healthy eye pressures and optic nerve blood flow that is packed with a potent blend of antioxidants and carotenoids including niacinamide, CoQ 10, saffron, bilberry, black currant, and grape seed extract.. Our delayed release capsules help protect the ingredients from stomach acidity allowing for improved absorption.

I take Andrew Lessman's Taurine for eye health.  I discussed it with my eye surgeon and he approved.

From the Lessman website:

TAURINE 600 is a pure, high potency source of the amino acid Taurine – likely the most important, but unheralded of amino acids. Taurine plays an important role in all body tissues, organs and systems. Taurine is highly concentrated in the heart, blood cells, muscles, brain, liver, ear and retina. Taurine provides stabilizing benefits to cell membranes throughout the body supporting the management and movement of essential ions. Taurine supports heart and cardiovascular health via various mechanisms, including its positive influence on blood pressure and vascular function. Taurine also provides protective benefits to the hard-working tissues of the liver, as well as the delicate structures of the eye and ear. It is therefore not surprising that studies have associated Taurine intake with healthy longevity. Taurine’s best sources are meat and seafood; however, even a diet rich in those foods provides relatively low levels making supplementation the best means of achieving its benefits. Taurine may be the least well known of amino acids, but that will likely change given its long list of health benefits. These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.

Re: Glaucoma and catracts ?

I was diagnosed with Macular Degeneration close to 10 years ago.   Both parents had it and so does sister.  Dad also had glaucoma.

I immediately started taking PresserVision Areds 2 which is Lutin + vitamins.  Sister and I both take it at the direction of our doctors.  So far it has prevented serious advancement of the disease.   Both parents became legally blind before they passed away.

There's info at Glaucoma dot org about treatments & research.

There is some new research you can read if you search UTMB Study identifies an anti-aging protein as Key to Preventing Vision Loss in Glaucoma.

There's a chart with listed supplements they say can help at Modern Optometry. You can find it by searching modern optometry and nutritional supplements for glaucoma.

Says Ginkgo Biloba is one of the most promising supplements.

I would research anything I could find that might help. After you research discuss it with your doctor. Hope you can find treatment options that will help.

@DrakesMomma : Thank you . Praying for you and your husband.

My anxiety increased when they were trying to do the eye pressure test. Then took me to another room to take photos of the back of my eyes.Took two people. One operating the machine and one to hold my head and chin on the machine. I had trouble breathing and holding still.

Eye doctor wanted my family eye history. I told him no talk about parents or other family members, everyone wore glasses. Only discussions about me being a premature baby with cerebral palsy, my left eye being bad( really turned in to the left), left eye surgery at age 4 . Except for two cousins and no contact in years, me the only one left in my family.
