I get my yearly flu shots at the pharmacy in my local market. It saves me from needing to get an appointment and a longer drive to the doctor's office.

@Tinkrbl44 Many of the doctors offices do not stock vaccines because of they short use by dates.....we are told by our clinic to go to our pharmacy to get any vaccines anymore.

I too have had shingles, but! Years before that I had 2 heart attacks. My situation had much more to do with my Maternal Genetics than with chicken pox.
Best thing to do to prevent heart attacks? Find the Major Risk Factors for Cardiovascular Disease, and try to change every one you can in your favor, some cannot be changed, and genetics is one of them.
Scary because you had shingles? Only a suggestion, but I think those risk factors might be a bigger concern as statistics have shown that for decades, not just recent research about shingles and heart attacks(disease).

@dooBdoo @Kachina624 Great information to know. I know I could not tolerate the horrible pain from shingles. Anything I can do to decrease the likelihood of coming down with shingles is something I intend to take advantage of.

@LilacTree This ad makes me sick. Putting the scare in people. Are they still pushing the vaccine for HPV for kids? SMH

Pretty soon they'll be inventing diseases just so they can manufacture meds for them. They are nothing more than legal drug pushers whose lobbies have the government in their greedy tentacles. (I would have said it differently, but I'm trying to be careful.) It's disgusting, yes it is.

@CatLoverDogsToo The burning pain I had was excruciating. The pain meds helped but did not get rid of the pain but enough so I could get 3-5 hrs of sleep per night. I'm just getting over mine. The rash is gone but dealing with the PHN. Hoping the infrared light therapy will clear it up. My description is someone hit my back left side & stomach with a ball bat several times which broke my ribs. My ribs were taken out set on fire & put back in where they stayed on fire for the first month. After that it was not as bad but still painful.

Thanks for the reminder. I have immune system issues and have had 2 heart attacks. I forgot about the shingles vaccine. I will make an appointment tomorrow. Good reminder.
Sad to see all the ignorance that continues to prevail about vaccines. Amazing that in 2017 people continue to post myths and claim it as truth.

While you & I often agree, this is definitely an exaggeration. NO American pharmaceutical company can put any drug on the market until it's been carefully scrutinized and approved by the FDA.
