I have a ganglion cyst on the inside of my ring finger on my right hand. It just appeared in December and has gotten larger since then. I have an appointment with a Hand Surgeon in May (first available appt.). Has anyone here ever dealt with a ganglion cyst? What form of treatment/surgery did it require to remove it?

I had a ganglion cyst on my wrist which actually went away by itself. It never got very big or bothersome. My son on the other hand developed a huge one above his wrist which had to be surgically removed. He is a college tennis player and it was from repetetive use of the wrist playing tennis. His bothered him a lot. It was a simple outpatient proceedure and he healed quickly and well. He ended up with a scar though as his was quite large and required many stitches. Also he was supposed to use sun screen to avoid scarring but he didn't.

I had one on my wrist many years ago. Doctor injected it and it went away - came back about a year later and he injected it again. He did say that if it came back a third time it would have to be surgically removed, but there was no recurrence.

I've had a few over the years and they've always gone away on their own eventually. If it's bothering you, I think the hand surgeon is probably the way to go. What does your primary care physician say?

My primary said that it could probably be injected, but said the Hand Surgeon would have to do it.

They're very experienced in this so he'll give you the best advice. If you're concerned about waiting until May perhaps you can ask them to call you if they have a cancellation.

I had one on the inside of my wrist for at least 10 years. It was noticeable but not sure if it was considered large or small. Anyway, I was happy it finally went away with no medical intervention.

I've had them on my fingers twice in my life, both times they went away. They were small. The latest one bothered me in cycle class because I would press on it when standing on the bike.

Mine went away when I did my Whole30 giving up everything but organic, grassfed protein and veggies (and some fruit) for 30 days.

Got rid of some other skin issues, too. I go to the derm in 2 weeks so we'll discuss all my missing cysts. LOL

Had one on my wrist. First I had the fluid removed, it came back. Then I had it surgically removed, it came back. Then I dropped a can on it, gone!
