I'd really like to lose 35 pounds in six months. The commercials for GOLO intrigue me, but I really don't care to do research because some if the testimonials could be fake. Does anyone have firsthand experience?

Magic pills will only lighten your wallet. Check sites for healthy eating, make your shopping list and meal plan, and stick to it.
You will have a cheering section here for sure.

Check out "Eat Like a Bear" online.
It's the way I lost 100+ pounds about 9 years ago.
Haven't gained anything back.

@violann but if I eat like a bear🐻, I'd have to hibernate all winter and I like Christmas😌. But seriously, you had tremendous success.

@AuntG My experience as someone who has lost impressive-sounding multiple pounds several times is that any program you will stick with works to shed the pounds.
My problem was that as soon as I reached my goal, I didn't stick with a good maintenance plan long enough.
Long enough is a very long time! In the years between my 75th and 77th birthdays, I lost about 50 pounds. Since then I have actually followed my own maintenance plan and kept those pounds off and even have lost a few more.
I am pleased to be 80 and feel good, but if I had a message for my younger self it would be - stick to sensible eating. You'll feel better, look better, and hopefully live longer and better!
Good luck with whatever regimine you choose to follow.

I would check out Noom. Several of us at work are trying it and it seems to be working for all of us (some at their own pace). Seems to be a very realistic approach.

@AuntG I have been using it. I would advise not to because what they say is not necessarily correct. I did not follow their diet that was sent with the pills. I just took the pills called Release. I tried to just eat better food. BUT, they say the Release pills take away the desire for sweets. They don't. I crave sweets all the time. I have Type 2 Diabetes with just Metformin, not Insulin and I have a belly. It really doesn't reduce that at all. BUT I didn't follow their diet so it's up to you. I feel you should just follow a good diet and drink lots of water. That is the best thing to do.

@AuntG You don't need to take pills to lose weight. There is no magic pill. They only enrich the manufacturer. Change your thinking and choose the appropriate foods that will improve your health and the weight will come off. Honestly, though, if you aren't willing to do the research and put in the time to invest in yourself, you are already setting yourself up for failure. When I started clean keto, I lost more than 35 lbs in six months. My total loss has been 152 lbs. in 2.5 yrs. I've been maintaining since about Jan./Feb. If you aren't interested in full blown keto, maybe low carb would be more suitable for you.

Thank you @luvmybeetle . I'm extremely interested in hearing from people who tried the program. I gather that there is nothing harmful in the pills, but that it is the sensible diet program that causes the weight loss. Basically, a better diet and a good multi vitamin is the equivalent of the Golo plan. Plus, your good advice to drink water, water water!

@AuntG Each of us has to select the program right for us. If you are serious about losing this weight....here is another way for consideration...I wish you success!
Get free accounts at:
1) My Fitness Pal (this is for daily weight accountability) - go to the Community group section where you select a group to post your weight daily (there are several challenges 10 day, monthly etc. cycles)
2) Chronometer (this is for nutritional accountability) - write down everything you eat daily. You will find out so much information about the food you are consuming and how to change your nutritional deficiencies and meet your caloric goals.
Decide a goal for how long you it will take you to lose the amount of weight you want to lose and the amount of calories you can eat daily (this will be posted in Chronometer daily). Select foods that are good for you, nutrient dense, and that you enjoy eating...stay within your caloric/nutritional goals.
You will have accountability - both socially (My Fitness Pal) and nutritionally (Chronometer). Not spending money or time on meetings is an advantage. By selecting your own meals and learning to eat what is appropriate, you will have taught yourself how to eat to maintain your goal for life as you are reaching your goal weight.
Yes, it requires dedication. If you have the will, this is a way that will meet your goals.
I wish you the best of health...any program you select will give you success if you give it the discipline required. Much happiness and health!
