@LuvSoCal I could easily write a book trying to answer your questions. There is lots of info online about this lifestyle. Carbs are not essential whatsoever...neither is fiber.
Most days I eat OMAD - one meal a day. Depending on how hungry I am, maybe 2 meals a day. I keep my eating window within 4 hours if I do eat 2 meals in one day. The rest of the day I don't eat...just drink water or black coffee.
Why a short eating window?
Because we are not supposed to be grazing all day long and spiking our blood sugar all day. Whatever the USDA has drilled into our heads/brainwashed us with, just do the opposite and you will be healthier just based on that alone.
If you watch the video, the gentleman shows an example of the insanity he is dealing with in Canada...no different here. He mentions how his wife is a diabetic and she was fed food in the hospital that she shouldn't have been given.
Again, I could go on and on.
My DH and I will always be mad about not living this lifestyle sooner. If we had, we would never had developed all the health issues we got.

We got on that bandwagon of thinking the Adkins/keto diet back in the 80's was a fad/dangerous diet. That couldn't be further from the truth.
When I eat, it is mainly red meat...beef, lamb...occasionally pork or chicken, but not often. I find beef and lamb most satiating. On holidays DH and I will treat ourselves to seafood, smoked brisket, and prime rib.
A typical day will be a ribeye (12-14 oz) or a lb of ground lamb/beef I heat in the skillet. Sometimes I'll enjoy as 2-8 oz patties, sometimes just frying in a skillet, pouring into a bowl and sprinkling with smoked salt...yum! Sometimes I'll have just one burger and I'll have 4-6 eggs on the side (scrambled or fried with bacon fat...delish!).
Most folks would be horrified with the lack of variety. Honestly, I look forward to my meal every day and never tire of it. Sounds crazy, but it's the absolute truth.
The funny part is, as one goes from being low carb and slowly transitioning to the next levels of lowering the daily carb intake, the more freedom one has...no joke.
Freedom from what?
Freedom from health issues (for folks in most cases)
Freedom from having to take meds (again, for folks in mose cases)
Freedom from all the high cost of the meds
Freedom from sugar/carb addiction
Freedom from spending hours in the kitchen/recipes
I could go on and on...
My Health issues that are now GONE:
Lost 120+ lbs
No more HBP - now normal
AIC is now normal
No more GERD/Acid Reflux
No more joint pain
No more skin issue
Improved sleep
No more depression/brain fog
Less grey hair - no joke
Eyesight has improved - again, no joke
Went from feeling like I was in my 80's to my 30's
MEAT HEALS - The 'proper human diet'
Bottom line:
The unholy trinity - carbs/sugars/seed oils
By getting rid of what actually causes inflammation, it clears up the majority of health issues
We have been eating meat for as long as we have been drinking water and breathing air. For 99.999999% of us surviving as a species, we ate mostly meat. It wasn't until the agricultural revolution that grains were introduced about 12,000 yrs ago.
We didn't survive as a species eating Ding Dongs, pasta, Doritos, sugar filled drinks, etc...we ate meat.
For those scared of cholesterol, again, it is something the Gov/Big Food/Big Pharma pushed on us to make profit/$.
And again, we lived mainly on meat from day one.
Does anyone REALLY believe back then they worried about cholesterol?
So then...some may ask...what about fruit?
Welp, the fruit of today is NOT the fruit of thousands of years ago. Fruit has been genetically modified hundreds of times to be as sweet and as full of sugar as possible. I'm sure most have heard the term 'nature's candy'. The few nuts & berries we ate way, way back in time was only during times we couldn't find a kill/meat and for fattening up before winter...that is it...kinda like what bears do...although we didn't hibernate...LOL

For those that are type-2 diabetic or pre-diabetic, they can cure it fully by changing their lifestyle.
As for type-1 diabetics, it is not as easy. I have read and watched videos to learn that those that have type-1, there are ways to simplify their life. I heard of a book titled: Dr Bernstein 's Diabetes Solution. I also have viewed many videos over the years of folks with type-1 and how they improved their lifestyle health. One video on youtube is titled:
Dr Richard K. Bernstein - Practical Tips To Manage Type 1 Diabetes
@Susan Louise FYI - you don't cure T2 diabetes. You get it under control and take it into remission.

It depends on if one changes their lifestyle permanetely (for life) or not...
I'm sure most folks would realize this without question.
For some folks it is cured, for others it's not.
I feel the same way about being a 20 yr lung cancer survivor. I am cured, not in remission.
I stand by what I said.

Still stunned at the portions (sizes) of meat you eat at one sitting! It's such a heavy meal. Half that amount would put me to sleep. Yet you eat "within a four hour window again." Do you eat the same size portions? My body would probably explode!
My mind and taste buds would revolt.
Do you both work full-time? Are you active in sports or volunteer work or classes at UNL on a daily basis? If not, what do you do with your days and evenings?

@luvluvluv what worked for @Susan Louise may not work for you.
I don't believe in diets. I lost 20 lbs and kept it off years ago dumping all junk, fast and fried food and red meat. Exercise.
That may not work for you but I don't believe in one size fits all. I eat fibre rich carbs, whole grains, fruits and lots of vegetables.

Completely and medically WRONG!!! Many diabetics have limited pancreatic function proven by a C peptide test. They must take blood sugar lowering medication. No dietary action can CURE TYPE 1 or TYPE 2 diabetes. Type 2 for newly diagnosed Patients can be in remission but NOT CURED! I taught children how to use insulin and ran a support group for diabetics and have lived with Type 1 for 54 years. The diet you are promoting is dangerous, unhealthy and factually can not only cause cancer but worsen heart disease. All scientifically proven and not the nonsense that guy on your video stated that his pre diabetic wife that had a stroke is eating. His insistence that she eat all meat is disturbing and the definition of insanity.

You simply suffer with disordered eating. Your disorder is an avoidant/restrictive type. Earlier your eating (by your description) was out of control, over consuming and making poor choices. Your eating is still unhealthy but extremely restricted, you feel total control. Counseling might help you get healthy.

Eating healthy and being active is the best way to retain your lifestyle. These so called crazy diets being so restrictive is purely nonsense. Eating 1 or two meals a day is neither healthy or recommended. Eating all meat and no vegetables, fruits or grains just shows how little people really care about the quality of life. Big deal you lost a great deal of weight but it was not really worth what nutrients you deprived your body. Please don't think starving your body is the way to go. Take care of yourself but look beyond these recommendations.
