All those fluffy sentiments do zip for me.
What has been motivating, though, is the combination of the highest A1C reading I've ever had, 6.6, and a bad bone density scan. I joined a strength-building class and cut out the sweets and most garbage carbs. On to portion control!
Say what you like about negative messages, but the prospect of suffering a broken hip and/or having to take insulin at some point did more to inspire me to take action than any soft-focus poster ever could.
