I have the two accounts linked. I know there is a setting in MFP for how active you are. I put mine as sedentary.
I start out with 1200 calories on MFP.
When I only get about 500 steps on my fitbit it adds 50 or so extra calories on MFP that I can eat. Before the day is over even if I haven't exercised it adds 300 or 400 extra calories onto the 1200 I can eat.
I know in reality that I'm not exercising or earning those calories.
I googled it and I did find someone else with the same problem. They told her to change her MFP setting to sedentary. Mine is already set there.
Anyone else have this problem?

Mine is set at lightly active. Every once in awhile it adds a few calories. And if I slow down, it takes the away! Maybe I will change it to sedentary and see if it does what yours does. The one thing I have noticed is how it calculates stairs sometimes. I know it uses an altimeter versus counting steps for this, but some days it includes trips in an elevator! I was in a meeting on the 10th floor of a building last week. I used the elevator and it counted it as stairs climbed. Most of the time, I think it is fairly accurate. Hope you figure out your issue. Sounds like you are wise enough to know not to eat extra calories if you are sedentary.

Thanks for your reply. I have the flex which doesn't use the altimeter so I don't have that problem.
I actually don't think I'm sedentary, but I selected that so I'd have fewer calories. But it starts adding on calories at around 500 steps. I get that many while just getting ready in the morning and sitting and drinking my coffee. LOL I don't deserve extra calories for that.
I really didn't know what to select. Does it give everyone 1200 calories?
Maybe since I'm not sedentary in real life, that is why it is adding calories? It is just adding too many.
I went to WW and I know it take a lot to earn calories!

Mine does that, too. I don't pay any attention to that part and just eat the calories I know I'm supposed to eat. I'm not sure what I'm set at...I'll go check to set it to sedentary.
And it also gave me 1200 calories.

I just eat my regular days's calories, exercise, and log everything in, and it's working GREAT for me. I should mention, I'm below the MFP recommendation for total calories every single day, but it STILL works great!Mine does that, too. Thanks all. I thought maybe I was doing something wrong. I'll just ignore the extra calories.
I really like MFP. I didn't want to pay WW any more money. It's working for me.
