From FitBit.com:

Our Flex wristband is made of a flexible, durable elastomer material similar to that used in many sports watches. It does not contain latex. The clasp is made of surgical-grade stainless steel and contains traces of nickel. As with any type of jewelry, some people may experience allergies.

Numerous factors can cause an allergy, such as a nickel sensitivity, reactions to bacteria that can accumulate in watch wristbands or other wearable devices, a reaction between the wristband and your soap or perspiration, or an allergy to the material of the wristband.

Thank you Vicky00. I'm out. Smiley Sad(( . I can't even wear sports watches. Isacc's ceramic watch is a Godsend since the back is covered in ceramic. It too bad these manufacturer's use nickel. It's use is banned in anything made in Western Europe.

I prefer the Jawbone UP. I think it's more accurate.

None of them are perfect. And, bottom line, IMO, is not about having the exact number of steps one takes. It is about improving one's fitness level.

There are many different activity trackers & I think we should ll get the one that appeals to us. Whatever motivates us to be more active is working great.

The UP lost any votes from me because of the sleep tracker. I used the same sleep app as it does and found it to be useless.

Boy, am I out of the loop. I thought "Jawbone UP" was a joke, i.e., to stop eating instead of having to take so many steps. Live and learn, I always say.

I bought that thing and couldn't figure it out and had to return it.

Maybe I should give it another try. What do you ladies think? Is it as difficult as it seems to be to me?

I have the Zip. I'm not very tech savvy and I don't have a smart phone. I synched it up to my computer...it took about 30 seconds to figure it out.

If you can navigate the QVC boards and shop online, you can set this up.

The Jawbone UP is certainly not a joke. Google reviews.

I never said the Up was perfect. I said I preferred it. The reviews are better in some instances as far as step accuracy. Different strokes for different folks.

Fitbit Force is the BEST one--QVC doesn't carry it. Here's the review:http://www.nytimes.com/2014/01/30/technology/personaltech/review-the-fitbit-force-activity-tracker.h...

Pretty sure this model (Fitbit Force) has been discontinued and a recall issued.

I was not suggesting you said UP is perfect. I was disagreeing with your comment about it being more accurate. None of them are.

I said any of them work if you use them to become more accurate so whatevr one appeals should work. We seem to agree on that.

I saw on the other post that it contains a tiny bit of nickel. The way it clasps, very little of it touches the skin. There are just two tiny lines that touch the skin. I am terribly allergic also and didn't have any trouble with this the first few days. Then I decided to paint the little things that touch my skin with clear fingernail polish as extra precaution. I only did this once and use it daily. I never have any trouble at all. If you try it and you break out, I'm sure they would trade it in for the clip on style.

If I had known it had metal in it, I probably wouldn't have bought the flex version. However I am totally happy with it and am glad I did.

I agree that it is very simple to set up & use. There are simple instructions and lots of Q&A on the Fitbit site. If you have questions or problems not addressed on the site you can email Fitbit CS and they will help.

The Fitbit does the work. We just wear it. Just touch the Fitbit or check the app or site for step counts & other stats.
