Are you having pain when you sleep? Just asking because you might be stressing out when it gets closer to bedtime. Is the anxiety why you aren't sleeping well? I'm not a big drug pusher or taker but my mom takes a small dose of trazadone because she was having big time anxiety at night and it helped a lot and pretty quickly.

What you're describing doesn't sound simply not being able to be active and I know shoulder pain can be crazy bad in bed. So maybe anticipation of that or something even if it isn't bothering you that much?

Yes, I was also going to say it sounds like you may be experiencing some anxiety over not sleeping and maybe just everything you're going through now.

Sorry you're going through this!

Hopefully, you can figure it out and get some relief soon.

Have you tried Melatonin for sleep?

@Mom2Dogs.  Are you getting any exercise?  If not that could make you feel antsy.   Can you start taking a daily walk?  Perhaps you're not sleeping well because you aren't physically tired?

You are feeling "restlessness" or "impatience"...because your activities are limited.    This will subside as you gradually recover from your surgery.

You are spending too much time just sitting around recuperating! Your psyche is telling you to start moving! Walk around your house, get some steps in. If you have stairs, build up your endurance and walk up and down. Your doctor will be delighted that you are getting a little exercise in. Exercise is good for the soul.

@Mom2Dogs - You may want to get your blood pressure checked, and perhaps your blood sugar, too. It is not typical or normal for you to feel this way, as you have stated. This is something new that needs to be investigated so you can feel like yourself again.

Wishing you the best.

Trust your feelings, you know you.

I would wonder about bad weather keeping you in?

Any changes, at all, to pills or foods?

Hang in there!

Possibly, you're used to being out and about....not being confined to be at home on the mend ?

I actually think it's natural to feel like that ! I know after 6 weeks ,I personally would be going bonkers !

Maybe, going out to lunch or dinner with your hubby or gfs ....would help.?

Thanks for the advice, tips.

Yes, I get out and I do work on occasion, today I was able to work 7 hours.  I will go back in on Friday for a few hours.

I also am able to do small household chores, to keep me occupied...dishes, cook simple meals, laundry and dusting, grocery shopping....all fun chores, lol!...I am glad I can do those things.

I think as mentioned by posters that possibly the issue stems from knowing that sleeping will not be easy, I sleep a few hours then wake up.  Getting comfortable is difficult.   I know this is not long term and eventually this will be in my review mirror.

It's so cold here, going out for fun is not going to happen unless it's a quick dinner out.  Sidewalks are snowy and icy....to cold to clean and the salt does not work when it's super cold outside.  Hoping next week our temperatures warm up.

thanks!

@ID2   I don't sit around most of the day, I am able to do simple chores, that keep me busy....using one arm for most activities.  I am only able to lift 1 lb right now...I go up and down our staircase multiple times per day.

Being a couch sitter is not my style.
