I'm finally completely off the cane and drove my car for the first time today since my Rt knee replacement 9/30. I drove myself to therapy and back, no big problems or pain. It felt so good to be behind the wheel again and be independent  Woman Very Happy

Good for You!

I'm afraid I have that knee replacement surgery on both knees in my future.

@Goodie2shoes

Sounds great to me. Just a bit under 8 weeks is encouraging to tell my wife. At not quite 3 weeks post surgery, she doesn't have that much optimism, yet! I try passing my big time optimism to her, unfortunately that is not possible.

I really am sure she likes me being her chauffeur, at least now anyways. Driving a lot ain't my thing anymore, I do as little as possible to get everything done.

Always happy to hear good news here. Thanks for sharing, and a BIG congrats on your progress.

Not being able to drive is very frustrating.

I was lucky when I had knee surgery--I got to drive after 3 weeks. But hip surgery--a full 6 weeks!

Getting into your own car and going where you want to is a great freedom!

@Goodie2shoes  Congratulations!  It's one thing if not driving is your choice, but not be allowed to is something else.

I can't envision driving yet.  What really sux is I have a brandy new Honda HRV at my disposal ,thanks to DD, and I can't take advantage of it for a good six weeks.

Enjoy having your freedom back.

Congratulations.  I was driving at 4 weeks after my right knee replacement. It feels so good to know you can just go someplace without having to be escorted. Enjoy your freedom.

I love how each doctor does things differently.  When I had my knees done I asked the doctor when I could drive and he said "you have to be off narcotics."  So I was driving a week after I got home both times.
