The stress of questioning the medication one takes can take

a mental toll on a life.
Is it safe?
Is it not safe?

Is it recalled?

How much is it costing me?

There's a solution to remove all these questions to improve one's life.

It might be helpful advice that you offer, but it is off topic.

@sidsmom  This isn’t the way to do it. You are not creating an atmosphere where anyone would want to follow what you say. You are creating just the opposite.

I couldn't have said it better. She preaches & post so many long articles it is ridiculous. I sure don't want to read post after post from her & her sermons as she shouldn't be telling everyone what to eat as everyone is different. It can be dangerous & hope everyone consult with their doctor before believing what she says.

An advocate and disciple of Doug Graham (who has been in very deep trouble google), Cyrus Khambatta, PhD is a follower of this Doctor. Deeply controversial in the diabetic community he advocates massive amounts of carbohydrates ...500-700 grams. He rarely discloses that he does resistance training. His earlier experience eating 3 bananas and a mango could easily be because most Type 1 diabetics go through a "honeymoon phase" where they don't need a lot of insulin initially. As time goes by, he may find without his exercise regime that he will no longer be able to eat this highly debated perhaps dangerous diet. He most likely is having many high blood sugars if his A1C is 6. Orthorexia is never a dietary measure accepted by the medical community. All it does is cut out whole food groups creating eating disorders.

My endocrinologist told me that in her forty years of practice, she has never met one single Type 1 diabetic who can eat 500 carbohydrate grams without massive amounts of insulin. False promises. She teaches on the college level and told me she warns her students of alternative medicine that is not based on peer reviewed studies...none of which I could find concerning this book and its content.

I am so sick of these comments and assumptions of which you know nothing.  I have Type 2 diabetes, which is very well controlled, but is a combination of heredity....every single person on my paternal grandmother's  side of the family had Type 2 diabetes, and they were of normal weight.  And, mine is also partly due to thyroid disease and hyperparathyroidism which wasn't diagnosed as soon as it should have been.

Unless you're a board certified endocrinologist, you should really stop making uneducated assumptions.

There is a mountain of science backing up Low Fat Plant Based diet

for Type 2 diabetes.

And to top it off, ask her a question she can't answer or doesn't like and she gets your post deleted.  I'm tired of the mods allowing her to take over threads.

A person with diabetes should definitely check their blood sugar two hours after eating a potato, mango or any other high-carb starchy vegetable or fruit.  The number undoubtedly will be scary high.

I have no diabetes in my family. None. I always ate (and still do) very healthy.  I was into Karate most of my life, starting in college, ending around age 50.  My weight is normal for my height (give or take a few pounds).  So how did I even get Diabetes??  Something I think about often.  I keep my diabetes controlled, however there is also a non-food aspect to this disease that even if you eat the same healthy thing, at the same time, in the same way, in the same amount, you can see a difference in blood sugar due to illness, body or mental stress, or physical injury.  A pretty unfair juxtaposition regarding this disease.... and one in which all the whole plants in the garden can't make normal.

This disease is far more complicated than most (even some doctors) truly understand.

When I fell down my stairs in 2010, the ER staff was taking my blood sugars all the time.  I hadn't eaten anything for an entire day (was unconscious a lot of it) and they told my DH that my numbers were through the roof and they were giving me insulin to get them down.  Food had nothing to do with my blood sugar spike, my injuries did.....
