Just received a call from the Endoscopy Center.  Mine is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 8 at 8:45 AM. I wish it was later because I am so not a morning person.  However, I'll be glad when it's over.

The anesthesia is propofol (shades of MJ and JR).  However, I've had at least six prior endoscopies for this chronic condition in my stomach and I have done well.  It still creeps me out though.

I had my first endoscopy and colonoscopy done two months ago. Being that you are pretty much unconscious it was no big deal.

Good luck on your procedure.

I'm sorry you have to go through that. I've never had an endoscopy, but my mother has had a lot of issues with a hiatal hernia and her esophagus, causing her to have had quite a few of these procedures over the years.

I wish you good luck and hope that you get to treat yourself to something nice after the procedure.

Good luck, Lilac Tree.  This stuff is never fun.  Glad for you it is early in the am.  Less time to be anxious.  All my best.

I had Propofol for a colonoscopy and liked it so much I asked for some "to go" but they wouldn't give me any.

I'm having my third "joint" endoscopy and colonoscopy on Dec. 14th. (Hospitals are so overloaded with this, you can't get an appointment sooner unless it is an emergency now.)

Anyway, I don't ever remember receiving propofol, but I'll be sure to ask ahead  this time, lol!

They have trouble keeping me asleep anyway. I always prop up on my elbows and talk with them during these procedures about half way through..it creeps them out !, lol !

Yes, "The Milk" as Michsel Jackson so lovingly called it is wonderful.  I had it with each  of my Four joint replacements...you sleep like a Baby!

I'm not afraid of the propofol.  I've had this procedure five or six times.  I don't "sleep," because one second later I'm awake.  Same for a colonoscopy.  I've never had any kind of "high" from it.  I've had other procedures and surgeries as well on propofol (I assume) and was never aware of anything.

"Twilight sleep" is a different thing.  One is not really "out."  I've had some odd experiences during those procedures.
