Re: Endoscopy and Colonoscopy in same day next week.

Exactly what prep did you take. I mentioned in your other thread that last October 2015, I drank my 20th gallon of either GoLytely or NuLytely. Not pleasant for sure, but it was necessary as all the Gastro Doctors I chose, will not do a Colonoscopy or Lower Double Balloon Enteroscopy on a patient that refuses to use this prep.

They all have told me it is because other preps were not as reliable, thus they could not complete those procedures. Thus is was a wasted test for them and the patient and required scheduling another procedure.

Glad to hear they found and removed the polyps, even though you have to get checked again in 6 months. When I was in the hospital for my bleeding right colon(a month), one week I had 3 Colonoscpies. Yes, 3 gallons of GoLytely, and my only nutrition? I could only have Apple Juice and Orange Jello for 17 days.

I hope things go easier for you in your next 6 month procedure. Also, thank you for taking the time to let all of us here know your results.

@BalletBabe

Did you read my posts? I don't know anyone that comes close to the number of gallons that I have swallowed. This I will tell you. If "honda" had not had this done, the polyps she had removed might have turned into Colon Cancer.

Take my word for it, Colon Cancer can be a long drawn out deadly disease. I had not problem upchuking any of my 20 gallons of prep. Think about it.

@BalletBabe  That was how I felt about having it done....but I had to have it done prior to a hip surgery because I was anemic and they had to rule out bleeding.  All my worry about the procedure was for nothing. Even drinking the prep was not as bad as everyone complained about.  Well, I had no bleeding, but,a large polyp was found and removed.  My husband had his colonoscopy done last month and  had 12 polyps removed! I think having it done saved his life possibly.....what if those polyps had just never been found and kept growing?

Re: Endoscopy and Colonoscopy in same day next week.

@hckynut   I Knew you were going to lecture me.   LOL  Just kidding John.  My Dr has been bugging me since I turned 50.  I am not interested. By the way , I am now 64.  I just don't feel that it is a safe test.  I actually had the one down the throat, and they told me I would not remember anything.  They lied.  I woke up as they were pulling the tube out of my throat and I thought I was going to choke to death.  That did it for me.   I also know 2 people that died having the colonoscopy.  Perforated bowel.

I mean if I had a problem I would go,  I know I am taking a chance, but I feel it is too invasive.  I am glad that you are okay !    Your a pretty cool guy and I know we all wish you the best here.  Thanks for your concern!

@SeaMaiden  I believe you and I am glad that you are okay too.  I am especialy glad that your husband is okay.  I know 2 people that died from having the test.  My neighbor had one recently and was in so much pain after she had to go to the ER.  Her belly turned black and blue and purple.  She said never again.

I just cannot make myself do it.  I also read too much.

BalletBabe... I agree with you...nope, I'm not having this test done.....too invasive with too much risk for me.  I respect everyone's choice regarding this matter.

@phoenixbrd

I agree thst I also repect anyones decision.  I think if you have a family history of colon cancer or are having issues , I can see doing it.  I think they are making big bucks off this test.   My mother in law was having them everytime I turned around.  I mean the woman was 90.  I bet she had 8 of them in 10 years time and never had colon cancer. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$

@BalletBabe

I will to try to remember your decision and not say anything directed at you again on the "bum test".

I also have had close to 20 Endoscopies over the last 7-10 years. I have Barrett's Syndrome, which is a precursor to Esophageal Cancer. My br)other-in-law died of complications of Esophageal Cancer. Never had an issue with any of that many Endo's. I saw and lived partvof the pain my sister went through with her husband, it was heart breaking. The had been married 60 years when he died. Esophagus Cancer is another preventable types of cancer.

Just sayin,

@hckynut  It is ok if you mention it.  I was just teasing you.  My cousin had espophageal cancer. He survived the sugery, but he has no life.  Skin and bone. Then he got kidney cancer.  Had a kidney removed.  I have another cousin at the age of 32  was dianosed with cancer in her nose.  We all thought she was done, but completely recovered.  She had a tumor behind her right eye and was having vision problems and one day she was driving and all of a sudden she could not see.  We all thought she wouldn't  survive, but she is cancer free 10 years now.  They actually pulled it out through her nose.  Life is strange.  Pittsburgh Dr's are the best.

You are brave I don't think I could go through all of that.  I have more concerns about heart disease.  I lost a brother at 45 and another at 55. My brother that was 45 his wife was 8 months pregnant.  Saddest thing I ever went through.

I am glad you are doing well!    I am depressed time to shop!
