I've had two. Both last year for the same symptoms you are having! The first one discovered two ulcers, the second one five months later to ensure they had healed. And yes, they put you out. The Surgical center should call you a couple of days before the procedure with instructions. Good luck, hope it turns out well for you?

They don't check your gallbladder with an Endoscopy, they use a sonogram for that
