Just remembering, coconut oil actually stopped mine on my neck and ankle. I get the worst on the inside of my elbows, but thankfully it doesn't happen too often.

@violann

Coconut oil is good for a lot of things.  I have to get more of that stuff!

I hate the idea of using petroleum products, but I may do that.

Not on the patch I have on my scalp though.  Can you imagine what a grease-ball I would look like?  heh  Maybe it would be okay if I used a q-tip to apply.

Last summer I had my first bout with eczema.  Meds alone did not help as the rash would reappear.  When I discovered food can trigger the rash, I did much research and started following an alkaliene diet in Karen Fischer's book THE ECZEMA DIET.  Recommended vitamins are suggested in her diet....I take daily.   ( vit C, B complex, Culturelle  probiotic, biotin, omega-3 oil....etc).  This book can be ordered from Amazon.

Also avoid fragrance and essential oils both found in soaps, shampoos, hand lotions, makeup etc.  I carry my own soap because I had a bad experience when out.

Stress also brings on the rash as does wine and beer.  Exercise helps with stress.

Karen  Fischer's book really helped me;  I refer to it often. Good luck!

Thank you for the info, @Pattyann62526!!

I do suspect that my diet may be the problem here.

I think that diet, the inflammation I have in my body, and a possible autoimmune disorder are probably all interrelated.

That's interesting about the wine and beer.  I've heard about people having bad reactions to wine and beer.  Does it say why?  (Sulphur compounds or tannins maybe?)

Beer/wine...do not know why...but I had a reaction a day after one beer.  She suggests  in her book drinking gin or vodka with club soda.  So not all alcohol is excluded.

the alkaine diet can be short term...gradually adding foods to see what is a trigger.  I occassionally cheat....so far only an itchy reaction but no rash.

take Allergea to help w the itch.

very healthy diet....the way we ate 20-30 yrs ago.....none of the processed foods we consume today like energy bars and drinks.....suger is in everything.

@Pattyann62526

Allergea...I Googled that and nothing came up.

I definitely need to wean off the sugar, but it will have to wait until after I wean off the Cymbalta.  The Cymbalta withdrawal is already starting to become unpleasant.  Can't wait until that's over.

Anyway, thank you for the info!!

Hi @mistriTsquirrel,

It can just be trial and error to find out what works on your skin.

I get it on my hands and fingers besides other areas of my body, and I have been using a rich body cream with coconut oil in it that I got at Sam's Club and I find that it is helping my skin.

I also think that products like Vaseline can be helpful, too.

I used to see an Allergist, and he used to recommend unscented and moisturizing products for the skin--nothing that would irritate it.

My skin flares up monthly like clock work, every time my cycle comes. Then it clears up again, so it's hormone-related for me, and my Allergist verified that for me.

@Toppers3

I tend to get pimples before my period...not the deep cystic acne I used to get all the time, but still acne.  What a pain in the butt!!  I used to have nice skin, years ago.  ::sigh::

I wonder if they would have your cream at Wal-Mart.
