@Luvsmyfam - I am not a medical professional, but I believe that once the water breaks, the baby must be delivered as soon as possible.  It will be an early delivery.  You are going to be a Great Aunt very soon. I hope everything goes well for your niece and her baby, as it very likely will, with the technology now available.

@Luvsmyfam Once the water breaks, the baby must be delivered. There is risk of infection if there is a long delay. How nice to have a new baby in the family.

@Luvsmyfam  My water broke with both of my boys. The doctor instructed my to stay home and if I didn't start having contractions within 12 hours to go to the hospital and they would induce labor. So I was induced with both of them. My older son was born two weeks early and weighed 8lbs 8oz. My younger son was 20 days early and weighed 7lbs 10oz. I'm certain this far into her pregnancy everything will be fine. Good Luck to all and let us know.❤️

Hi @Luvsmyfam!!  Yes, if your niece's water broke, her lil baby will be coming soon!

Both of my sons were early arrivals. Both induced. Son #1 was born 8 days early. Son #2 was another story. 🤪 My water broke at 34 weeks (6 weeks early). Went off to the hospital and there I stayed until about the 8th day, and they then decided to induce me. (The docs were concerned that the baby's lungs hadn't been developed fully, so I just waited each day to see what happened.) I had the baby (at 35 weeks) ... and I went home the next day. My little guy had to stay in the NICU for about another week.

All turned out well in the end!! I wish your niece the best and I'm sure she is in good hands!! 🤗 Let us know how things turn out! 😊

And PS ... I've no idea how my mom birthed 12 of us!! 🤪

Re: Early arrival?

[ Edited ]

My water broke at 36.5 weeks with one of ours.  I went to the doctor and he sent us to directly the hospital.  I had a natural delivery a few hours later.  Once the water breaks, the baby will arrive one way or another, within a day or so.  Our baby had some challenges at first and had to be transferred to a specialized NICU at a different hospital. It was a very scary time for us for a number of weeks.  That was our experience, but it doesn't mean they're all like that.  There are many babies who arrive early and are 100% fine, just a little small.

Love the name @Luvsmyfam , but you may want to edit your post. You never know who is reading these forums and giving out personal information presents a security risk.  Maybe it's fine here since no last name or location is provided, but always proceed with caution.
