I decided quite a few years ago to see what was in bottled water and found practically no information..

'EWG has also been foiled!

No increased information has been forthcoming since 2011.

hmmm

so today consumers are not much more enlightened than in the last nearly 10 years.

The EWG advocates the best water to drink is filtered tap water.

On the EWG site, you can enter your zip code and find out which toxins are in your tap water. Our list will require a "reverse-osmosis" filter.

The article said that each day we drink enough bottled water to circle the globe one time. WOW No wonder the oceans are overrun with plastic.

For years I've had a large Pur water container in my fridge.  It's not a pitcher, but much bigger and has a spigot.  The top lifts off to add more water or change the filter.

Re: EWG Bottled water study

I don't buy bottled water unless it's distilled and not with any regularity. We have always had a reverse osmosis filtering system, Brtia or Pur over the years. We have well water, we do have an ultra violet light for the well water for bacteria, the water from the tap tastes ok, but I know there are plenty of solids in the water. I have an idea people buy bottled water simply for the convenience.

I like the convenience & portability with bottled water

but taste-wise? Always kinda tastes 'off'.

I love RO refills I would get at Whole Foods, but I have yet to find

a reliable (non-leaking) refillable container that's not glass.

At this time, I just use a Brita.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a 2.5 or 5Gallon

refillable container that doesn't leak at the spout and/or seams?

I use this, it's 23 cups. I get the filters at Kohls when I get a 30%,35% ,or 40% off coupon. Zerowater 30-Cup Ready-Pour®

I drink straight Colorado tap water...it comes from high up in the Rocky Mountains snow melt. There's a reason why Coors' uses it to make their beer...it's good!

I've been hearing these same statistics for years.

Personally we have a well and had it tested.  That convinced us to purchase a Reverse Osmosis system for our home 15 years ago.  One of the best investments.  We all fill a water bottle before going to work or school.

We have been using a Reverse Osmosis System for years. All I drink is water. I drink a gallon per day easy. Only thing I don't like about it is that it wastes water to make water. Our water bill is probably about double as other households with only 2 people.

Since we can no longer buy filters for it we will be buying a new one. I'm looking at one that won't waste as much water.

@Nightowlz

I think the article on EWG did mention about filters causing lots of additional wasted water, but then, there doesn't seem to be any viable alternatives.

The fill up at Whole Foods that @sidsmom

mentioned seems like a good alternative.

I only drink water đź’¦ đź’§ đźšż too!
