When I had heels spurs, I was given cortisone shots at the most tender point. It was unpleasant but it worked. I've never heard of the EPAT procedure.

It is $600 for whole procedure over 5-6 weeks. I don't think there is a guarantee that it will work. I had a cortisone injection last year and it worked. This time, because it is in back of heel, I can't have one as Achilles' tendon could snap. I guess I am 'prejudiced' against podiatrists, and maybe if orthopedics did them, I would feel more confident. I had physical therapy for it about 8 years ago, I guess it helped at the time. Just seems strange that very few people have heard of it, and no one has had it done in the 10 years it has been around. And if was that great , insurance would cover it. It's not like it is a cosmetic procedure.
