Re: Drugs scheduled to become generic (and maybe less costly)

@tsavorite  Under federal law it's not legal.  As I said in a previous post, is it done?  Of course.  All the time. Do doctors know about it.  Yep!

But importing drugs into the US which is what you are literally doing without FDA approval is illegal.

You are lucky the DEA is more concerned with the heroin and cocaine being brought in by the Mexican drug lords than you.  Smiley Happy

Re: Drugs scheduled to become generic (and maybe less costly)

@kelsey17  This is exactly how to do it.

If any of you want a specific drug by a certain manufacturer, have the physician write DAW on your script.  That makes the pharmacy only dispense the brand or exact drug you want.

One word of warning:  Your insurance company may not cover a specific drug since they like the cheaper generics if available.  Your doctor may need to have a conversation with the insurance peeps to get you covered financially.  Don't be afraid to ask and let them work it out for you.

@novamc1 Thank you for posting this.  So glad to hear Eloquis is going generic, it's very expensive.
