Re: Drinking healthy water, my new discovery!

We just bought a new Home Master reverse osmosis system with UV light sterilization a few months ago.

We could no longer get the filters for the one we had.

Re: Drinking healthy water, my new discovery!

We tried zero water and loved it. Really enjoyed testing all the different water to see how many parts per million. We just couldn't afford the filters, they are quite a bit higher than brita and pur. We also had trouble finding them sometimes. I still look for deals so we can have them for awhile. Smiley Happy  Sam's will have them every once in awhile with several filters.

Re: Drinking healthy water, my new discovery!

I have 2 Brita pitchers. One is in the refrigerator, one on the counter. I fill the refrigerated Brita with the filtered water from the Brita on the counter. It tastes pretty good.

I use single filtered to make coffee.
Double filtered for the dog, of course, and for me.😊

Yes, we should all be aware of drinking more water than we probably do. Thirst, it turns out, always comes too late; by the time we experience thirst, we are already a bit dehydrated.

Years ago, I realized the water in places I lived was full of unhealthy minerals, particles—when I saw the build-up of minerals on my cat water bowls. Yuck.

I've been a fan of Brita pitchers for years. High minerals in water are hard on our kidneys (especially aging kidneys!). More recently, I discovered and researched reviews on a new water pitcher: ZeroWater. Wow. It comes with a measuring device, so you can see (a) what your tap water measures, in terms of particles and (b) what your Brita (or whatever filter) water measures. Brita measures high.

My new! Zero measured zero in a glass of water. More wow, for me, was that with the first drink I realized what purer water is like.

So, for a small thing we can all do (while sheltered!), I give you something to explore. I love giving myself healthier water to drink.

Even my green tea now tastes better . . .

On another thread I started about youtubers someone mentioned "Vivian Tries"  she did a demo on this product and it is very interesting how this product works.   It certainly does what it says it doesSmiley Happy

Re: Drinking healthy water, my new discovery!

I bought a Brita pitcher recently and returned it.  Tasted just awful.  I bought a Pur pitcher, but haven't tried it yet.  Hoping for a better experience.  I think I am used to the way the filtered water tastes at work and Brita tastes different.

Re: Drinking healthy water, my new discovery!

I recently bought Costco's newly introduced  Kirkland water pitcher and filters, which it sells for less  money than the Brita brand and claims to filter out more stuff than the Brita brand.

Still using up my Brita filters meanwhile, but will start using the new items soon.

Item may be available in your local warehouse for a lower, non-delivered price.

Kirkland Signature Water Filter Cartridges are made for great-tasting water. The filters are tested and certified by WQA against NSF/ANSI 42, 53 and 401 for the reduction of: Chloramine (taste and odor); Clorine (taste and odor); Mercury; Copper; Cadmium; Benzene; Zinc; 1, 2, 4-Trichlorobenzene; Estrone; Meprobamate; Trimethoprim. For optimum performance, prep your water filter before using and change your water filter cartridge after 40 gallon (151L) or approximately once every 2 month for an average family.
To prep the new filter before use follow these steps.
1. Immerse the water filter cartridge in cold water for a few seconds. Shake it gently while submerged to remove any air bubbles. Discard the water.
2. Place the water filter cartridge in the reservoir opening. Press water filter cartridge down firmly. Ensure the water filter cartridge seats completely in position. Rotate if needed.
3. Fill the reservoir with cold tap water and allow the water to filter through. The first two fillings will contain filter media sediment and should be discarded. This is normal. Refill the reservoir and the system is ready to use.

Features:

  • Reduces Chloramine (taste and odor)
  • Reduces Chlorine (taste and odor)
  • Reduces other substances that may be in your tap water such as Mercury, Copper, Cadmium. Benzine, Estrone, Meprobamate and Zinc
  • 11.61"L x 2.56"W x 11.02"H
  • 2.39 lbs

And you can definitely tell when the filter is ready to be changed.  I went to buy replacements at Walmart, but they didn't carry them any more, so I ended up ordering from Amazon.  I drink a couple pitchers a day now.
