I've had hundreds of bruises (more like red/purple injuries) over the past five years. It's called "senile purpura" (in my case). They are almost always on the tops of my lower arms. I sometimes know where I got them, otherwise, I don't. My skin is so thin, sometimes they actually bleed and I have to use a Band Aid.
I have asked my doctors and been told it's aging, also prednisone which I take for RA. I am not on blood thinners. They do fade but never go away completely . . . they become grayish/light brown spots of all sizes. I've had some pretty big ones. I have one or two right now. I never show my arms anymore.

Nope, always been a righty. Guess it hasn't been doing me much good, just a plain young, now real old klutz. =^..^=

As an adult, I have always bruised easily. Press hard on my arm, there will be a bruise shortly. I'm not on blood thinners, so this is just my body norm, IMO.
I keep constant bruising at bay by taking a Super B vitamin complex, available from many manufacturers. Whenever I see those tell-tale pink-red bruises, I realize I've run out of B and forgot to get more. As soon as I start again, those bruises stop.
I think B vitamins are pretty safe, so trying a supplement (Super B) might be an idea.

For me, it seems to happen the older I get. I think my depth perception is off. I slam my arms in my front-load dryer all the time, when taking out laundry.
I would mention to my Dr., if it happened too often without any explanation. I generally forget I slammed myself and wonder days later what I did.

If you've been through it or having it going on, can you share please? I wonder if it's a vitamin deficiency.

I do this. At the moment I have a horrendous brouse on my knee. As bad as it looks, it seems like I should recall what I did.
I think there could be many medical causes. And I also think some of of just bruise way more easily.

I've been having mystery bruises of late, also.
Some might be something I did - granted, I probably hurt myself half a dozen times a day. But some of them are in places where I could not have possibly bumped or fell into something.
I see them a lot on my hands, arms, legs. They are usually fairly small. Weird!

Yes, I have them on the backs of my hands, they are deep purple and take a couple of weeks to go away.
They are always at the site of a vein, which apparently leaks. All of my MDs say they are from the meds I'm on.
They usually do hurt when they bleed spontaneously.
I hate them. If anyone says, "How did you get those?" I say, "Bar fight."

Blood vessels get weak and more fragile with age, making them prone to tearing which causes bruising to appear. Increased vitamin C will help strengthen the integrity of blood vessels and make them more resistant to trauma.
