I just took a class with BOSU (see photo 1 below, for those who don't know) and did burpees with it (photo 2).

Do you have one at home, and if so, do you love it? {#emotions_dlg.unsure}

Love the BOSU! I've been training w/ this tool for close to 10 yrs....it has always remained challenging. Below is a video with CRAZY moves! My trainer incorporated a majority of these moves within our workouts (not the splits!)! Here's a screenshot of one of my favorites:

I love it too. My first experience with it was when I was in rehab for my knee and I've been a faithful user ever since. I always had balance issues (think it's my center of gravity due to over endowed on top and only 5'2"" - at least that's what I said when my Physical Therapist commented on my balance problems) and working with the BOSU has really given me an effective tool to learn to balance myself. It's also been a Godsend for me when working out on the floor protecting my seriously not padded tailbone and my fragile knee.

So do you have one for at home use, or do you just use the one at the gym?

There is a smaller version that I'm considering, for at home use.

I use the commercial size @ the gym. The base is 26"...anything smaller, I wouldn't get the wide stance for squats. Plus...the home model might not weigh as much...for your burpees overhead move...something to consider/check. Though, your pic looks like it's the same size as the blue ones...pink is cute!!

The first think I thought when starting to read this thread was that it's not for me because I have arthritis in my knees. Not a correct assumption?

I have arthritis in my knees too, worse in the knee that I blew out years back. I do wear a brace on my worse knee as I only have a partial ACL. Maintaining good balance is critical as we age. The consequences of poor balance resulting in falls are devastating and can be life threatening.

There is nothing jarring in the use of the BOSU and jarring is what truly aggravates my arthritis, not flexing.

Yes, until it wouldn't hold air anymore.

I love using it at the gym and I have terrible knees. Of course, I do not jump on and off it! But as has been mentioned it is great for balance. So critically important as we age and with bad knees even more so.

I have considered buying one for home use, but the less expensive units do not seem to hold up well. And I wonder how hard they would be to inflate without a more advanced air unit.

This looks like something I might like. Never saw it at any gym I went to but would like the home version. I'll have to look into it.
